IIRC he suffered an eye injury of some kind and was largely ineffective because of it. Otherwise, it would have been a far closer bout. A heck of a tough dude - that's for sure.

RIP Ernie. Now only Mildenberger is left of those who competed in the WBA Elimination Tournament.

One of my favorite things in boxing is when they ask for a moment of silence just before the start of a big fight to honor a recently passed fighter.

I hope the bell at ringside rings one more time for Terrell.

It figures that Muhammad Ali is now.
Remarkable really that he's outliving most of his peers.

There has been some speculation that Ali is in poor health. Few significant fighters from the 1960's are around today to speak intelligently on the topic.

Chavlao and Foreman are the exceptions.

    R.I.P. Ernie! :-(
Granted, he was a holder, utilizing his height, weight, and reach advantage but a thousand other fighters used their 'advantages' as well. Great jab, and beat a great deal of solid fighters!
I've always thought that with Ernie, and his sister Tammi (The Supremes) that Mom and Dad must have done a pretty good job of raising their kids, given their successes.

His sister was Jean Terrell of the Supremes. Tammi had no relation. I believe that was a stage name and not her real last name.
