Cleverly, Hopkins and Pascal are not ATG "light heavyweights" and one of them was 50 years old when he fought him. The Stevenson fight is a big question mark as to weather or not it will even happen, and Adonis himself is 37 and hasn't been at the top very long. I agree that Kovalev could end up with a "very good" resume, but saying that he'll have one of the best when contrasting it to that of Klitscko's, Mayweather's, Pacs, Ward's or even GGG's is stretching things.

Yeah Eubank beat Benn and Watson but then how the hell did he lose twice against Steve Collins, who was good but hardly anything special?

Eubank is no Macklin!! GGG is far too easy to hit to run Eubank close. Eubank decision is the obv outcome.

Nobody is taking Chris Eubank out.

He didn't. He lost once to Collins (second fight) when rushed by a wildman and unable to set himself.

eubank at present has beaten a higher number of elite opponents, and you ave to go with him, but its close, and GGG would be the second hardest hitter eubie ever faced.

Eubank was struggling with that stupid Sky contract. Fighting every six weeks or so when he was struggling to make 168.

There was a furore at the time because it came out that he didn't eat or drink for two days prior to a fight to make the weight, and a lot of people speculated he was in danger of doing serious damage to his metabolism.

In the end he lost a step prematurely, probably as a result of it.

i went golovkin pts, based on eubanks poor workrate. Those who voted golovkin by ko don't seem to have seen a single eubank fight.

All this 'who has he beaten' or even 'triple duck' stuff is fuccking ridiculous american nonsense, he's beaten half of the top 20 mw's and who really gives a shiit about cotto? lineal? yes, not a mw and near shot? also yes. Geale should be #2 behind golovkin imo with murray next.

Is golovkin so overrated that quillin cotto and martinez pose some great threat? looks to me like none of them want anything to do with him.(understandable in martinez who should be retired)

The point is GGG hasn't faced the quality of comp Eubank did so his attributes are still not fully tested by top quality comp. It's hard to judge how good a fighter is if he isn't being tested. The comp isnt even there at middle tbh. He should move up and fight Ward and Froch. GGG is as strong as an ox I think he'll go far. Right now he's overrated but there's not much else around to get excited about so its no surprise.

I agree you can't fully judge someone without them fighting true world class opposition, but ward isn't allowed to fight and froch is trying to get chaves, no way either of those happens for at least 6 months, unlikely they ever happen however much we, or ggg want them.

Hasn't he though? Could anyone do a comparison of their number of wins over Ring ranked MW opponents?

Yes, Eubank beat Watson (close) and Benn, but he missed out on better opponents in McCallum, Kalambay, Nunn, Toney and Jackson. And that's just at MW.

Is that really a so much better resume at MW than Golvkin's?

Yea GGG is the current fad, the so called flavor of the month, a BIG HYPE JOB, I will be a believer when he beats Cotto, or a Carl Froch..

Back in the 90"s everybody was on the Fernando Vargas hype train, then he crashed, then around 2006 the fickle boxing fans, media starting riding the sack of Edison Miranda, another hype job bust, then back in 2008 Kelly Pavlik was supposedly the next greatest thing since sliced bread, then he was schooled by Hops, it all goes in cycles.....

That is a fair point. The middleweight division in the late eighties/early nineties was spectacular, and Eubank still didn't really want a part of any of them. In his defence, he was in it for the money and not the glory.

I think geale is a significantly better victory than cotto would be, murray could be better too (although i like murray and want him to win he is probably past his peak now)

Cotto won't be a great mw win. Murray is a solid mw win
