I understand that. Jones wanted a level of control and that hurt his paydays as well as the marketing of fights/opponents. I don't remember, or maybe I never knew - but why was his rematch with Griffin on a Thursday?

A prime Jones would have been be a social media superstar.

I mean top 10 ranked fighters in each division, that time being early 2003. Hopkins was #1 at middleweight, at 175 you would have had Gonzalez, Griffin, Harding etc ranked in top 10.

You make it sound as though he didn't deteriorate quickly because he didn't fight anyone.

He absorbed little punishment, because he was a GREAT fighter.

Has it ever entered your head, that Roy was 35 when he lost to Tarver, and he'd fought 50 times, across 5 divisions, and he had to lose muscle quickly, after returning from HW?

He didn't just fight C graders did he?

Roy did miss a lot of fights, just like every other fighter.

How would any modern fighter stand up to the gruelling schedule that a fighter like Lloyd had to endure?

Ray Robinson had over 200 fights, as did many other fighters from that period.

 

That's true.

However, Floyd is fighting in a different era, with more exposure, and his PPV numbers are only great, if his opponent is a big name.

He was involved in one half of the biggest PPV of all time, because he was the P4P no.1 fighter, and he was fighting Oscar.

Take away Oscar, Cotto and Canelo who all have huge fan bases, and his PPV sales aren't all that.

Showtime can't have been happy with his last few fights.

Also, there's many boxing fans who despise him, that no doubt buy the PPV, in the hope of seeing him get beat, which I'm sure Floyd loves.

With regards to Roy, HBO at times weren't happy with who he was fighting.

But he fought on HBO over 25 times.

He also fought a lot of guys who they were happy with.

 

Then why did your so called superhero Jones fight them then? You muppet.

Of course he was a top 5 HW.

That didn't mean he was great.

But he was a top 5 HW.

He was the WBA champ and he'd had some decent wins.
