No, he was only around 29 when he was KO"d by Lewis and 31 when he lost to Morrison, young by heavyweight standards..

He was out of his league against Lewis, and Morrison was just a more versatile, athletic, quicker fighter...

 

Tyson ruined him, just asked the doctors that took care of Ruddock for two weeks afterwards.

 

I agree with Klompton he was not the same after Tyson. Still had a punch I would say faded or over the hill not shot.

 

Against Lewis? No. Against Morrison? Yes.

 

Although he was coming off two tough fights with Tyson, I do not believe Ruddock was shot when he faced Lewis. By the time he faced Morrison, yes he was faded.

 

Tyson broke his jaw and Ruddock spent two weeks in the hospital afterwards for various injuries.

 

I don't know about if he was when he fought Lewis I think that was just more of a case of a great performance by Lewis but when he faced Morrison I feel his best years were behind him.

 

Agree. He looked good leading up to the Lewis fight.

He was well past it for the Morrison fight. I'm still ****ed that Lipton screwed that up. Ruddock might have won.

 

Morrison took more punishment from Ray Mercer, than Ruddock took from Tyson, and the Mercer fight didn't ruin Morrison...

Ruddock wasn't very durable if one fight ruined him:nut, the first Tyson was stopped way to soon i don't recall Ruddock taking excessive punishment in the 1st match..

I've seen guy's take a lot more punishment in fights than Ruddock took from Tyson, look at the 3 Ali-Frazier fights, and those were all 15 rounders!!

Hell look at all of the tough hard fights Holyfield had, even had a minor Heart attack against Moorer, and if that isn't excessive punishment i don't know what is...

 

Lipton didn't screw anything up, im sorry but when fighter A has fighter B against the ropes and is beating the hell out of fighter B, who ISN'T throwing anything back, it's time to stop the fight..

Besides Ruddock DIDN'T protest the stoppage:-(, in fact he looked relieved it was over...

 

The Mercer-Morrison finish was really bad but don't think the fight as a whole was as brutal as the Tyson-Ruddock fights especially the 12-rounder - that was horrid - partly because they totally threw tactics out the window/didn't give a 5h1t about defending themselves and just had a ***** out I'm not gunna back down streetfight

You mention Ali-Frazier but certainly I don't think Frazier was ever the same after the fight he won?. And by the time of the 3rd fight both were already shot to pieces which was why that 3rd fight was SOO tough (over rated fight though IMO - they were both about a stone out of shape and a shadow of their former selves I don't like seeing that personally)

Also with Holy he dropped off big time after that first Bowe fight I think

We all know where this comes from, it comes from the Tyson nuthuggers who try and find an excuse to why Lewis and Morrison got him out of there whereas their hero couldn't.

The man was far from shot when he faced Lewis, he was KTFO that's all by a huge punching ATG, maybe he was past his best when facing Morrison but then again so was Tommy.
