"at the end of the day, belts only collect dust"
That's what Floyed used to say, why would he want to chase Cotto fight then

Mayweather - Cotto II for the Middleweight linear title.

It would be a great option if Pacquiao-Mayweather doesn't happen.

HOWEVER, its an impossible fight: Mayweather is Showtime and Cotto is HBO.

Unfortunately for fight fans, a win against Cotto means a title at a 6th weight class for Mayweather. To him it add's to his legacy as x amount of years down the line he can boast he was a middleweight champion. :nut:!:

Cotto - Mayweather is looking increasingly likely on the 2 May.

Al Haymon can and will make this happen. It is attractive enough to Floyd in that he gets the WBC middleweight title, decent enough (1-1.5m PPVs) to make it viable financially and gets to shaft Arum in the process. Nice. Low risk, too. Risky fights for him are Khan and Pacq. Mayweather wants this.

This is a good fight for Cotto, he should take it.

Mayweather should be looking to fight Pac though and no one else.

Well...don't fight for a middleweight belt in this case. This guy is a joke.

There is'nt any precedent for any alphabet group to make such demands. Any even if what you said would be stipulated, Mayweather would give a flying **** about being stripped, the belts to his name would allready be etched in history.

I dont believe Canelo is going to bow down much to Cotto's demands. He can go fight Mayweather if he wishes. Its another sure loss to his record and since the loss would be by decision, a Canelo fight right after could still be made, only Canelo because of Cotto losing decisively to Mayweather, would be in the drivers seat to demand a 75/25 split.
Cotto's only real option if that did'nt suit him would to be fed to GGG and I think Cotto does'nt like facing fighters who fight to brutalize.
That, and there's more money in it for Cotto at a 25 split with Canelo than a 50/50 split with the G'ster.
