I don't know about contracts but I do know that if both sides want the fight and theres demand for it, the networks would work out some arrangement (like for Tyson/Lewis). I think its obvious Shotime want the Pac fight for Floyd, I don't see why HBO wouldn't want in on the action too.
well, cotto at 160 is a much tougher fight than pac at 47.. cotto 60 khan 47 are both much tougher fights than pac. I see that as why Floyd is trying to cherry pick pac now, but pac isn't cooperating, he is thinking he is A2 instead of the B side.. that is what is going on here, if Floyd signed to fight cotto at 160, I would think he might've chewed off more than a close to 40 Floyd can swallow. good fight, problem is this could lead to a tri ology. he needs to fight pac, that is far and away the easiest of the 3 options. khan, all wrong cotto 160, not a good move pac 47, beat down
HBO wanting in on the action means nothing tho, if they had exclusive contracts something would have to be worked out, Floyd says the fight in SHO ppv, he is the A side so too bad unless pac and or cotto have exclusive HBO contracts. without the HBO contracts all this network stuff is just gibberish and means nothing
I like Cotto but his best days were at 140. He has a pretty poor record at 154 also imo - he beat a inactive/shot Mayorga and Margarito and a very average Yuri Foreman: Losing to Mayweather (no shame in that) but also getting widely decisioned by Trout. He has had a mini renaissance but Martinez was shot in their fight and was always a small middleweight anyway. Cotto at 160 would not be a much tougher fight for Mayweather than it was at 154 or what Pac would be at 147 - unless Mayweather has slipped a lot. If Cotto beat a true middleweight contender, it might be different. It'd be quite sickening to hear the Floyd fans call him the best ever for holding 147, 154 and 160lb titles when he only won his titles off Cotto at 154 and 160 (and he being his only opponents at those weights).
Yes but what I mean is that they could work something out, if they wanted to bad enough. But you're right about HBO contract situation potentially being important - for example if Pac wasn't contracted to HBO he could technically just fight on Showtime and it'd be one less stumbling block to making the fight. Maybe somebody else will know.
You sure Mayweather vs Cotto II (Recycled Fight) will happen @ the full 160 pounds for The Middleweight Championship? :deal
kill ya self ok. floyd it the goat end of story. hes fighting pacman if bob stays out that way. floyd been fighting on that mexican day and bob all of sudden cares so much for canelo fighting on that day :-( bob is full of it and dont want floyd and pacman to share the same ring. hes 47 fights in with 2 to go on his contract boycot WHAT  he has 36 mins left in the ring then it will all be over. and as a long time fan it's been one hell of ride :good
I am right there with you. I have boycotted every ppv from both PAC and Floyd since PAC vs cotto in 2009.
should it be at 155 it'd still be more legit than the "championship" Pac won at light middle. Cotto might look better with Roach, but Floyd still beats him. That said, f u c k this fight.
Pac has put a lot of stock back into the fight, and because of that if I were any potential opponent of Floyd I would not want fight him before he fights Pac. It'll be a cold a day in hell if any judges hand Floyd a loss on any scoring cards and ruin the Pac fight. As matter of fact, that could be his entire reason for holding out on the Pac fight, it's pretty much like a golden ticket that ensures he gets big time favoritism on the cards.
