I don't know that his best days were at 140, he was draining to make that weight his punch resistance sucked for cotto at that weight. wins and losses don't mean anything to me when deciding ones best weight or when certain fighters primes were.

I've seen all of cottos fights from the Corley fight onwards, btw that was one of the biggest BS stoppages ever. cotto was far more hurt ealier in that fight than Corley was when the ref stopped it

he had looked pretty good at 54 except against trout. lots of factors played into that trout match, let down fight for cotto, thought it'd be an easy win, trouts length played a major role in cotto struggling. people tend to change the facts of that match.

some people claim now that cotto got whooped bad in that match when the truth is it was a pretty damn close fihht. I mean cotto clearly lost but it wasn't some one sided beat down people on here try to claim.

it was a case of cotto not being properly prepared, trout fighting the fight of his life and cotto under performing. all his other fights cotto looked pretty good. I've only seen him at 160, I think once and he looked very strong and fast, mind you that was against an aging wicked over hyped Serg, so the jury is still out. I think he weighed in at 155 or close to that.

time will tell, but from my perspective, 140 was nowhere near his optimal weight, he really was hurting his in ring performance by draining the sh!t out of himself. 147 was better than 140 but he only made that weight for a short period of time, maybe my memory is starting to fade and he was there much longer but I don't remember him being a WW for any extended stretch.

MW is really a bad weight, but that's only because whoever ends up with that wbc MW title is in a short line to face trip G which is just a bad beating in waiting for anyone...

man, all this rambling I forget what I was even responding to , lemme check . ok I checked,

just wondering now about the following,
"If Cotto beat a true middleweight contender, it might be different.

in saying it might be different if he beat a contender, do you mean it would be different on paper or different because he had an extra training camp with roach ?

the different part is Floyd yes, obviously has slipped. anyone who cant see that must have much difficulty following in ring performances.

it would be close to the same cotto, weighing in at 155/57 ish, with a older Floyd, a more slipping Floyd against a possibly better prepared cotto with roach in his corner who will put everything in to it. seems like its a career goal or a career making fight for roach. just seems there is nothing better in roaches book than beating Floyd Jr..

I just think pac is the easiest fight for Floyd out of those 3. call me a pac hater, fl0m0 or what ever, I tell it like I see it and its usually very clear for me. khan at 147 sucks for Floyd, cotto and MW, weighing in at whatever he like, is very tough for a very aging slipping Floyd. pac for this aged and OLD Floyd would make Floyd look like he is back in his prime. Floyd would be out to make a statement and contrary to what some think, s paws are actually better for Floyd, he is a walk your a$$ down and bang you out with straight rights then following straight rights he adds in some nasty left hooks..

    very offensive minded against SP's

time should tell all.. problem is pac is making it very difficult for Floyd. if pac wanted to fight a one thousandth of what he and people claim he would've accepted anything and everything just to get Floyd in the ring.

I'm starting to believe what I believed all along, which was pac wants NOTHING to do with a Floyd fight... I started to feel maybe he does want it when he was claiming on espn and in interviews that he wanted the fight and with all his owed money the IRS I figured that's enough to push him over the edge to make the fight.

now I'm back to square one, pac is FOS..
if he really wanted anything to do with Floyd, he would sign in the dotted line, no demand would mess this **** up.

I won't get into the blame game as I believe both sides have not wanted the fight at different stages.

I'll have to check Cotto's fights at 140 and 147 - I can't remember which ones were at which weight. I'll have to check that.

I mean that if Cotto could prove himself at middleweight against a full-blown middleweight, it would go a way to legitimising his title. As it is for me, I think most top middleweights beat him and he is a blown-up fighter who was in the right place at the right time to capitalise on Martinez being shot. (credit to him for the good performance, but lets be real Cotto is not the best middleweight around and is still essentially unproven at the weight.)

Its just the.... cheek of that fight, if it were to happen - total degrading of the middleweight belt and depriving the fans of two very good fights (Mayweather-Pac and Cotto-Canelo) just to suit the egos of Mayweather and Cotto.

Do you really need to ask this question? Floydiots would accept a fight with Floyd vs the local club fighter and sell it as a legitimate fight.

According to Dan Rafael, Pac does have an exclusive contract with HBO. And I believe Rafael mentioned that yesterday.

I respect JMM. Sometimes my posts here won't reflect that but outside of the forum I talk about boxing a lot and I never really talk **** about JMM. I enjoy his fights, I was just responding to Beouche. I do think JMM is overrated and his resume is lacking, I stand by that. I think he could have taken some tougher fights in-between Manny fights. But that's all I'm going to talk about this.

If people accuse Arum as the main road block between a Floyd-Pac fight, wouldn't Arum represent a similar problem here?
