he didn't rule smw ever except for immediately after beating Kessler, after which he vacated everything immediately

before that Kessler ruled SMW, immediately preceded by Sven the cheat.

Joe ruled the ONLY weakest, 4th best version of the title in the SMW division, is what you mean. This is why its difficult to call him best when he ruled the 4th best title.

Yeah, Calzaghe was only really the true number one in the division when he beat Kessler, but of course that was only one fight as he immediately vacated as during this time Bernard Hopkins had lost to Taylor twice and was was now 43, while Roy Jones had been brutally KO'd by Traver and Johnson. Which miraculously coincided with Joe overcoming his much documented, long standing fear of flying meaning Joe could finally move up in weight, get on a plane and make these fights.

H2H. So what top undefeated SMWs has Ward beaten?
What top prime SMWs has Ward beaten?
Whats Wards best win in your opinion? You will have to say anyone other than Kessler or Bika now :yep:oops:

Delvin Rodriguez was undefeated and ranked in the top 10

He beat Froch who was in his prime and that was his best win..

INJURED Kessler. with joe's hometown setup and refs who stop a fight hes getting floored in for an opponents slip, award a tko to joe for touching his opponent or who carry cleverly back to his corner..

Joe ran from uninjured Kessler everytime he challenged him.

Kessler - "I Viking warrior, fight anyone anywhere, I fear noone"
    Joe - "... ..... "

Kessler - " Hey Joe I fight you no problem come to Denmark I challenge you"
Joe - " ermmm.. no thanks,I am afraid of flying"

Kessler "OK. I come to Cardiff to fight you no problem."
Joe - " ummmm.... sorry, I am now suddenly injured"
    Kessler - " Hell, ok."

Kessler - "Hell I just damaged my hand in training"
Joe -"I fight you anywhere anytime - Quick fight me now in Cardiff if you dare"

Yet the division is even weaker now
Look at how The Rings current top 10 looks

    C. Ward (not fought in over a year and last beat E Rodriguez)
    1. Froch (who was beaten by a faded Calzaghe victim coming off a loss)
    2. Abraham who has not beaten a top SMW and was beaten by Steiglitz, who in Calzaghes era was beaten by a fighter who barely made the top 10
    3. Groves (who has done little at the weight and suffered to recent KO losses)
    4. DeGale who has done little at the weight
    5. Steiglitz, beaten in Calzaghes era
    6. Anthony Dirrell whos best win is Bika beaten by Calzaghe when prime and who he drew with at first ask

You have Chavez in the top 10 who hasnt looked impressive at SMW as well as a debateable win and Sturm for drawing with Steiglitz and Sturm is faded now than when he was a MW years ago.

Pull out any Calzaghe era and it is stronger than that. Any you like, go and research and come back and be schooled again

Andre Ward could have rivaled him

Bet no ones more relieved than Joe for Andre inexplicably wasting his HOF bound career

Froch's surpassed him resume wise, but H2H Joe could very concievably 12-0 him
