With the money that Floyd could make from a fight with Manny, which by the way could happen on the worst date of the year and still make him more than any other fight out there, why is the date such an issue? It should be the least of his worries.

Naw, what's stupid is when you have a fighter called "money" who could make $100+ Mill from ONE fight, yet he chooses to have THREE fights to make that same figure! Stupid AND scared - that's a dangerous combination.

floyds arrogant and clearly feels like it would be bowing down and out to bob arum/ canelo/cotto by moving from a date that he has fought on for the past 4 years (and also announced back during build up to maidana 1 and 2 that he was fighting 2015 may then finishing up in sept 2015)

is it trivial? yes. yes it is... but dont think for one second bob arum did not make the date a ****ing issue simply because of this (is there anyone who actually buys this "its disrespectful to mexicans" talk?)

That's actually what he needs to do. That's the only way for him to take back control of the situation. Make the best deal he can and beat the brakes off Pac. He should let Canelo have that May date and just get ready. With that one win over Pac, he can shut up Jim Lampley and his crew, Oscar and his crew and Top Rank. It has to be a master class though.

I never did and never will buy into that scared of Pac BS. That's a weak and shallow assumption. He's been playing hardball with the big boys for a while and holding his own but now they kinda have him in a corner and he needs to accept that and take it out on Pac. Not an easy job but one that he can do.

Hey Alex, come on man. Don't act retart3d. Pac said that he would fight for charity to prove a point to Floyd that Pac was not desperate for money and having tax issues like what Floyd claimed. Common sense.

i hear that alot.. mark my words you will miss him when he is gone, i followed boxing when i was about 15-16 but i really got into it maybe 2008 etc i got to watch the rise of pac and mayweather the 2 and only global icons i got to experience live and first hand come up and now slowly fade off. i speak to older boxing fans and they always told me 2 things

    1. dont worry, there is always going to be a NEW KING OF BOXING when the old one(s) die

and secondly - they all appreciate you alot more when you retire

We all know how it started this " fight for charity " thing. Floyd was making fun of Pacquiao...that he is broke and desperate for money. Pacquiao heard it and challenged Floyd to fight for charity... and Floyd's response ? cricket.

Agreed, but this is only a high light of arums excuses. He also had the classic

    Cut won't heal
We need to build a stadium
I don't know why GB is calling me
I don't know who to call

    Bbbuuuttt

Floyd has also had his fair share of excuses as well in the past. Both camps share equal blame, but this latest excuse about being disrespectful to fight may 2nd is b.s.

Skills are on a REAL downward spiral as boxing wanes in popularity though. S and C "training methods" are replacing mastery of craft, creating a whole bunch of extremely flawed people rushed into fake title contention. Pac and Floyd came up the old fashioned way (one through meticulous training and boxing lineage/tradition, the other through super stiff competition and poverty).

The early 80s was a highpoint in the sport and it has gotten slowly but surely poorer as more talented athletes are attracted to other sports (why get brain damage and be like Ali?). The majority with polished skills are close to Floyd's age. This is why it is so important that these guys fight now. There were always five or six or even more figures like Pac and Floyd in the 80s and 90s at a time, and now there are only 2 aging guys. The up and comers are by and large not very well rounded fighters and most have one or two glaring deficiencies that might make for interesting match ups but will prevent "greatness".
