Of all the Floyd fights I have watched, even in his prime, he has been vulnerable repeatedly to a few things:

    1. Straight punches to the head - The Shoulder roll's biggest flaw
    2. Feints- if done well, it can neutralize a counter puncher

You add speed to the mix and you have a h*ll of a fight.

What Cotto specifically did in round 6 was get off first, attack the body with power shots, but finished the combos by going to the head with straight punches. Then, in round 7 he only does it ONCE about half way through the round and, not surprisingly, it was his best 5 seconds of the round.

I don't like this fight at all.

    Prefer Pacquiao.

I'm just preparing for whatever comes.

Cotto also did the same thing to Floyd in round 8... but only late in the round.

I felt his jab and left hook were the key.

That round actually exposed Floyd's inability to consistently punch on the move. Cotto boxed circles around him ambushing and making Floyd lead. It's not easily done but it suggests a possible avenue for success.

cotto did very well in almost all of the rounds against floyd but only once or twice was it enough to give him those. alot of people have said you need a good jab to beat floyd and cotto (who has a great one) really backed this up i felt

You know what else got 'exposed' in that fight: Cotto's inability to beat Floyd Mayweather.

Cotto doesn't have the speed in his legs to execute that strategy consistently

straight punches are not the shoulder roll flaw at all...in fact the shoulder roll is made to block the straight with the shoulder :patsch

looping punches are the shoulder roll kryptonite like maidana showed us all

    This.

It allows the glove to get around the shoulder.

And Judah gets tired after 4 rounds. And Canelo didn't try. And Maidana was paid off. You guys just can't give the man credit for adapting to his opponents.

I almost felt like Mayweather wanted to give Cotto a shot. I'm by no stretch one of those delusional dudes who give excuses to fighters, but it seemed like there's a chance May wanted to showcase a little bit of Roy Jones on the ropes.

If Cotto fights May again, imo he'd have to do EXACTLY what Maidana did. Cotto's a lot stronger than Marcos to me and if he is able to bully May like Maidana did it'll be a very different fight with May getting very tired in the later parts.
