His name was Mike Williams. His best days as a fighter were before Rocky V was made. His best win was probably his ko of James Tillis in late 1987

Thats the guy, Mike Williams. Another one who was touted as a potential challenger to a then prime Tyson based on rumors of how well he had done in their sparring sessions.

I thought it was Mike 'Bounty'Hunter at first but that was a different guy.

Mike "Bounty" Hunter was fun to watch on ESPN in the mid to late 80s. He upset a few fighters. That stupid Bounty Hunter getup he wore into the ring was funny. He had a seriously unorthodox style.

I favor Seldon. He had superior boxing ability, so if it goes to the cards he'll probably win. Additionally, he was outperforming peak Morrison leading up to the Tyson fight, having decisively beaten Tucker and Hipp. Morrison's highlight was beating Foreman, although I believe Tucker would beat Foreman.

They both had ****py chins. Seldon's chin failed comically against Tyson and Bowe, both HOF fighters, and McCall stopped him in a fight he was winning--a respectable bunch to lose to. Morrison got the **** knocked out of him by lewis and mercer, and inexcusably lost to Bentt. However, he does deserve credit for surviving foreman and faded Razor.

Seldon gets the edge because he'd be winning more rounds and creating an uphill battle for Tommy, which he might pull off or might not.

Also, for those assuming Tommy steamrolls him: Who did Morrison ever blow out early who was at Seldon's level?

I remember Mike Williams losing to Witherspoon. Guy was definitely built like a Rocky fighter though!

Of the crop of young heavyweights that came out in 89, Mercer, Morrison, Seldon, & Bowe, I actually liked Seldon the most. Bowe just seemed big & lumbering. His highlight for me then was wearing a Batman cape into the ring once! I liked Mercer because of his toughness but he was so crude. Terrible technique. Morrison was blasting out stiffs but he showed power & good handspeed. He really was pretty good. Seldon though caught my eye with his snappy jab, quick hands, & ability to box or brawl. He looked the part too. Then he was shown to have shaky stamina & a bad chin. He was probably my favorite early on though.

Even fight with an edge to Morrison. Seldon wasn't a big puncher. A good Morrison hook & Seldon would be out. I can see Seldon winning with that jab though. His stamina was better but not great.

The guy with no heart and no chin vs the guy with a big punch and some heart
