What do you mean instead of Accepting pacmans challenge??
Floyd made it pretty dam clear he wants to fight Manny on cinco de mayo. Bob arum who happens to promote pacman wants nothing to do with that fight because he's warped people into believing that it's some great national Mexican holiday and that only mexican fighters should fight on that date.

I would have no problem with arum making that statement if he ALWAYS felt that cinco de mayo should be for Mexican boxers only, however he's put his cash cow manny in 2 fights on cinco de mayo against NON LATIN fighters in Shane Mosley and ricky Hatton.

Now isn't that ironic? Arum is singing a completely different tune about cinco de mayo now and it's fairly simple to understand his reasoning- his old ass wants to promote cotto in a fight on May to maximize the amount of revenue top rank can make for the weekend and than he wants his cash cow manny to fight Floyd on some other month so he can maximize the profits for that fight.

He doesn't care about giving the fans what they want, if he did he wouldn't hesitate to negotiate terms with team mayweather for a May 2nd bout. But he's the greediest promoter in the history of the sport, he just wants his 2 biggest stars (cotto and pacman) to make him exorbitant amounts of money on separate fighting dates rather than have them compete with one another on the same weekend.

I never thought in a million years that pacman or Floyd were afraid to face one another. The problem is pacman has the worst promoter in all of boxing. He can call out Floyd all he wants but it's abundantly clear at this juncture that arum has no interest in pairing his best fighter with he P4p king, fully knowing that's the mega fight fans have been clamoring for for nearly a half decade now, not a Canelo-cotto bout. Boxing will be in much better shape once arum retires or passes away as mean as that may sound.

No? Really? So Floyd is justified if it can't happened on 2nd May?

    This is hilarious.

    This.

No, there's absolutely NO REASON the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight cannot happen because of May 2nd. If Canelo-Cotto signs for May 2nd, then Pacquiao-Mayweather will have no choice but to reschedule. Mayweather never said "May 2nd or nothing", his haters just conveniently interpret it that way. Whether that be the case remains to be seen and I don't think people should jump to such conclusions.

I would have no problems with this if this is at the full middle weight limit with no catch weight !

they are both to blame floyd is pigheaded and does not want to be seen as weak bowing to arums demands when he declares he is the A-SIDE

so he gets blame for not even negotiating the date

but bob arum surely deserves more blame simply because there is no issue at all and bob arum is clearly making one out of thin air just to **** floyd (and boxing fans) off, so now a ****ing contest between floyd and bob is going to cost us the best fight

Me too, but I'd prefer Pacquiao. We all know they would fight at a catchweight and weigh the exact same as they did in the first fight.

This is all it's ever been, that's why I blame both sides. All they're doing is comparing ****s, trying to be the A-side.

Honestly who would complain about a rematch with Cotto ? The first fight was pretty good so I don't see why not ..

The Pacquio fight has to many obstacles and I'm pretty. Ugh over it ..It's a few yrs to late anyways ..

They have the battered woman syndrome.

Battered woman syndrome (BWS) is a mental disorder that develops in victims of domestic violence as a result of serious, long-term abuse. BWS is dangerous primarily because it leads to “learned helplessness” – or psychological paralysis – where the victim becomes so depressed, defeated, and passive that she believes she is incapable of leaving the abusive situation. Though it may seem like an irrational fear, it feels absolutely real to the victim. Feeling fearful and weak, and sometimes even still holding onto the hope that her abuser will stop hurting her, the victim remains with her abuser, continuing the cycle of domestic violence and strengthening her existing BWS -

    This. Good post.

And it brings up another point: it's possible for many of us to be fans of Pacquiao and at the same time DETEST Arum. He may have kept Manny in the money, but he also may kill his legacy.

I agree completely that the public are way down on his list when compared to his pocketbook.
