So Floyd owns the date? Everyone else has to cave because Floyd wants it?

You guys are too thick to get it. 50% also happened in May and June... so what? Are you two honestly saying that this fight on ANY other day than the 2 Mexican holidays does worse? Do you know ANYONE who would say "No f*cking way I'm buying that fight if it is April"

No one would say that and if you believe it you aren't that bright.

I agree with Floyd in a sense that Floyd has stated that he was going to fight on those dates, so it wasn't a surprise... but Jesus.. it's just a date. The money was supposed to be the important part so why argue over a GD date???

Equally stupid for Arum to blab on about Mexicans and disrespect. Moreso actually.

So now it's not the fact that Floyd is a huge draw and he chose to fight in those 2 months? It's ALL to do with the calendar? Sh*t, why aren't you a promoter man!

Methinks you don't understand your own argument, as you continue to make the counterpoint all on your own.

After 5 years of posturing, bickering, and excuse making, you are just now "starting to think that no one involved" wants it to happen?

Your observational skills are slow but better late than never!

I don't care if the Pac-Floyd fight happened on that date. The fight doesn't need this date to break the PPV record. There are 51 other saturdays of the year.

The battle isnt about May 2nd 2015 in particular.

Canelo and HBO are trying to wrestle the dates back on their side for the long run. It would be a coup for them to set up Canelo, new Mexican PPV star who fights every year on Mexican holidays.

Floyd wants to keep them at least until he retires of course.

Arum is using this as leverage/roadblock. If Floyd wants the date he will have to concede something to Arum. So on. Arum gives a speech about Mexican sensitivities and journalists are too afraid to call him out while fans are too stupid to see through his BS.

It doesn't matter, I agree. For this particular fight it would be just as big if they came out and said "It's a go for the 3rd Saturday in March, or May or whatever.

Both sides are being ridiculous IMO.

I don't see any man with those kinds of skills, he is a once in a generation kind of fighter.

Just look at compubox, he is by far the best. 50% connect rate and 16% connect against, best in the history of the sport.

Never knocked down in 18 years in the game. This man has fought every style and managed to conquer all.

This man is just so far ahead of the competition, it's just a sight to behold.

The ring generalship of this man, the reflexes, the speed, the agility, the ring IQ, the defense, the ability to adjust, the footwork.

In terms of pure skills/talent, he will rank above Duran, Ray Robinson, Leonard, Hagler, Monzon, Armstrong, etc.

    Pure skills/boxing ability.

May 2 is a convenient date given the dates of the last fights fighters in question last fought. They should organize a

    - Floyd vs Pac
    - Cotto vs Canelo

for the sake of the sport. People, especially promoters, should realize that they don't only compete with other promoters, they also compete with other sports for the attention. Many people who were all in to boxing has lost their attention and turned to other sports in the last decades. Big fight nights likes these draw attention to boxing, and with more attention, more money will flow even with smaller scale fights. Sanctioning bodies should realize this too and they should understand there can't be 5 no.#1 guys in a single weight division. They should stop killing the sport, promoters and sanctioning bodies.

You can't organize a world cup(soccer) with Brazil and Germany have no chance of playing with each other. You can't have a sport where fighters like Pac and Floyd do not fight. It just doesn't work that way.

Canelo-Cotto, Mayw - Pac on 2 May. Anything else will most likely be BS.
