    :patsch

Beating a guy he already beat in most everybody's opinion (albeit in a close fight) in another close fight - that deserves fighter of the year, while Inoue annihilated the #1 in two divisions, including a complete demolition of Narvaez who as of this moment is (were both to retire today) significantly greater than Bradley?

First off, it was MVC - so to be taken with an entire shaker of salt.

Second, votes suggesting Pacquiao's year was better than Inoue's (or even the 2nd tier of Gonzalez's, or Crawford's, or Ruenroeng's, or Kovalev's) are just as ridiculous as votes suggesting Mayweather's was. Pacquiao had a better year than Mayweather, clearly, but they are both also clearly tertiary-tier behind the aforementioned five. Or if you want to call Pacquiao tertiary and Mayweather quaternary, fine. Still, both FAR away from the very top - with an entire blocking line buffering them from Inoue - who is himself well ahead of that blocking line.

None of Pacquiao's 22 backers has yet put together a case elucidating why his year was specifically better than Inoue's - or the other top runners-up. (except, surprise-surprise, Mayweather)

    Disappointing.

The only conclusion to be drawn is that all 22 are a) non-objective fan boys who probably would vote the same way no matter what (even if Pac had a mediocre year) or b) ignorant of the lighter weights or c) both.

:nono Even if he officially got those nods he wouldn't be top 5 based on them, let alone the F'erOTY.

It was a tough call before Inoue snatched up his 2nd world title against ANOTHER world champion who was also recognized as the "top guy" of the divison. Being only 22 with only 8 fights, moving up not one but TWO weight classes ands scoring the KO which Narvaez had never suffered in his extensive 15 year career only solidifies Inoue as fighter of the year.

Crawford and everyone else are distant 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th.....ect.

Really, I think you can make an argument he took the 0 from 3 fighters this year, Perez' only loss was a stoppage because of a head clash against Cano that went to the scorecards. Herrera was the Taker of 0's this year, he's worthy of top 3 consideration, his beating of Danny alone is certainly worth more than Crawford's Gamboa win, Danny was on quite a run, whereas Gamboa hasn't look good in awhile and obviously not a natural Lightweight.

If Kovalev beats Pascal and Stevenson, is he a top 20 ATG at LHW?

He'd be in the discussion, at any rate. Those wins could allow him to make the claim that he would have cleaned out the division. Fighters who do that tend to land pretty high on all time lists.

Crawford, he had a terrific year against good opposition.
