Granted he had some forgettable fights against forgettable opponents in people like Sobot, Pudwill and McIntyre but there was some good wins against underrated fighters aswell. Reid, Woodhall, Brewer and Mitchell all current or ex world champions. Sheika was a fight in which some people thought Joe would lose. You had his mandatories against Veit and Mgerwhats his name. But in his last two years of activity 06-08 he beat Lacy, Bika, Manfredo, Kessler, Hopkins and Jones. Very solid. I'm not a fan of either Calzaghe or Froch both are great fighters in their own right but people like to downplay Joes record but he faced his fair share if excellent fighters. 10 current or former world champions.
Joe Calz got that glass resume going on it truly is awful. I have a few choice fav moments from his career: 20 wink wink "title defenses" while another dude in the division also has the same resume and an extra belt. first ever title holder he faced was Jeff Lacy 70 % wink wink KO ratio "dont worry son hes not that good anymore" care to add anymore ??
these guys were either current or ex, yeh? which ones of these were "current", which ones were "ex" Or did you mean they were all "ex"? sorry for your ahem typo, sure you weren't deliberately telling FIBS. only with joe.
actually YOU are - you claimed Barry and me claim just that and accept that Nelson does. that's already numerous. But I would add everyone on the Froch vs Calzaghe resume poll who voted for Froch. please write English, what is a high Kessler? I don't know what this is since it doesn't mean anything relevant in English.
Ahh ESB's resident tit is back, thought you'd have been here abit sooner. Yes I had forgotten Woodhall had just lost to a eyre my bad but still doesn't change the fact that Joe beat 10 current or former or soon to be (see I added another one there)champion. Calzaghe stands Froch on his head every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
gotta love the special stats in the UK beating current OR FORMER world champs (99% former) or when they call a guy a 3 time challenger basically you get credit for beating over the hills guys and losing
Have a ****in word with yourself, or would you rather we dig up some of your numerous "Joes my hero" posts ? Didn't have to look far did we ?
No I'm not a fan, but I recognise that Calzaghe is the better fighter. And crack on finding my Calzaghe worshipping threads/posts etc. me calling Calzaghe super Joe was in reference to the pathetic biased posts by Froch fans who cannot deal with the fact that Joe was the superior fighter.
the history of the SMW division has been a joke regarding the long time titleholders, basically the guys hiding out in the sausage division while there was steak just above and just below it. No wonder the really good fighters just passed through 168 back in those days. Both Joe Calzaghe the Italian dragon and the Phantom Sven Ottke retired undefeated champions* both had 20 defenses of the world title* in the same division at the same damn time. Both had terrible refereeing in their backyards, some key moments was german ref telling robin reid not to punch and UK brit refs jumping all over Manfredo, to save his life* both were garbage compared to the cream of the crop, Joe C is a worst case though, as clearly if he wouldve dared to be great his record could be much better, but he sacrificed that for his zero I guess
100% former, doyle, you stand corrected on that post of Odin. not to mention that "ex-champ" Woodhall was retiring with a back injury and exchamp Mitchell retired straight after in disgust for being cheated. Perhaps he made a typo, I don't know if he was deliberately LYING AGAIN or not.
