    For reference, the March 29, 2012 issue of The Ring Magazine discussed and ranked the best KO artists at the time:

    1. Nonito Donaire
    2. Marcos Maidana
    3. Juan Manuel Lopez
    4. Jhonny Gonzalez
    5. Wladimir Klitschko
    6. Sergio Martinez
    7. Lucian Bute
    8. Roman Gonzalez
    9. Gennady Golovkin
    10. James Kirkland

    Honorable mentions: Abraham, Angulo, R. Bailey, Darchinyan, Gamboa, Judah, L. Matthysse, Nishioka, V. Ortiz, Pacquiao, Segura, and Tua.

    While the top 10 was in some order or another pretty much the consensus list at the time for "best punchers" whenever the question, which is often, came up... the honorable mention list looks a little odd and dated even for the time.

    So, what do we think? Interesting to see who is still around doing their thing and who has fallen from grace in just two and a half years...

    Two and a half years in Boxing is a long time. Lopez, Bute,Angulo and ***y Sergio look finished. Donaire not the killer he was but still elite and Maidana not the KO machine he was but improved as an overall Boxer since 2012 and has a higher rep and more money ha.

    GonZales and Wlad still at the top of their divisions, Golovkin at 9 in 2012 but would be most peoples number 1 now while Kirkland has hardly fought in the last 2 years but still a huge puncher.

    Lucas would be in the list now, as would Kovalev, Stevenson

    Froch hass Kos vs Bute, Groves, Taylor.....i think the cobras power is under rated p4p......almost or borderline top 10

    Froch has good power, but his real asset is his stamina and durability. He won't KO anybody who's fresh in the first round, but when they are tired he'll be fresh as a daisy, and that's when he knocks them out.

    Orlando Salido just breaks all of Ring Magazine's toys. He smashed JuanMa who was supposed to be this unstoppable KO machine, then he tripped up Lomachenko right after.

    Seriously, Ring Magazine is the worst at over hyping fighters. Juanma, Bute, Pavlik, Chavez Jr. Also, what's Judah doing listed as a knockout king?

    This is as of 2012, but you'd think the case would be easier for him to make the list then. He wasn't even an "honorable mention" in the magazines article yet they managed to list... David Tua??? 2012, not 2001... It's shockingly horrible.

    That said, there top 10 was plus or minus one or two guys, the consensus at that time.

    In fairness, his body punching and some of his stoppages do warrant his being a mention at the time for power. But Bute is the classic example of why I cite beating top 10 fighters, and at least one top 5 fighter, before going overboard with hype and claims of what they can do and how great they are... Bute certainly proved to be overhyped.

    Anyone care to do an updated version using their opinions?

    I'd imagine Kovalev, Stevenson, Golovkin, Walters, and Wladimir would be shoe-ins to make the list...

    Yes those 5 would be on the list for sure.

    I'd also imagine, even though they are relatively unproven, Beterbiev and Inoue would have a shout of being up there - Lemieux too. Jhonny Gonzalez is still a proven puncher, as is Matthysse. Roman Gonzalez probably retains his spot.

    I'll tentativley make a list in a while
