I cannot think of too many more similarly-achieved and similarly famed fighters being put in the same amount of h2h threads, whether ironically or not. Sanders, I mean.
battle of the nevermen. however, shavers was good enough to fight for the world title more than once. In direct contrast corrie NEVER was good enough to get a title shot - he needed the cowardly Klitshchkos to come along and invite a retired 37 year old to fight for the title (which has never happened in any other era) on condition he followed script and fell. Shavers >> Sanders and destroys him early.
Sanders is staring at his eyelids by the typical round he usually gassed out in, ROUND 5.... I've said it before but it bears repeating, Sanders is the most over-rated guy on this forum:nut, he beat Klitchko before he even learned how to fight very well, Brewester and Purrity waxed him too, so are they considered the best thing since sliced bread too??:huh Sanders only fought maybe once a year, he was fat, couldn't fight effectively for more than 4 or 5 rounds, and was blasted out by some guy Named Nate Tubbs?? He was big and could punch, whoop de doo, most heavyweights these days can do that...
No doubt this fight ends in an early KO I'd favor Sanders to knock out Shavers but at the same time its very possible that Shavers puts Sanders lights out, gotta remember Nate Tubbs knocked Sanders out in the early rounds, if Nate Tubbs had a punchers chance against Sanders then Shavers has a real good punchers chance.
how come anyone is favouring corrie who never got into contention for the tite, over the guy who fguth for it more than once? and is reputed the hardest hitter in history. klitaard detector says yes. if corrie hadn't wiped out wlad, then no one would pick him... much less people would even know his name. Just because wlad is not good h2h, doesn't mean corrie IS...
Sanders doesn't even possess a single eyebrow raising knockdown outside the Wladimir fight - and that's a man with 12 or 13 knockdowns against him! For such a supposedly dynamite puncher, with such supposedly incredible speed and footwork, you really would have thought he'd KO Hasim Rahman. Those of us who watched the psychologically weak Sanders kept way out the mix throughout the torrid, talent-laden 1990s do find it hard to reconcile this Superman image he's been bequeathed the past decade. It was no surprise at all when he lost to Rahman. Fighting Shavers would be like fighting a man moving & punching at light speed compared to the dead carrion Sanders beat. Shavers' aggression would terrify Sanders and his power would put him to sleep. As always, 'Best vs Best', whatever that was with Corrie.
2 power punching frontrunners with one big win and a heck of a dropoff after that. Give me the bigger southpaw with the straight left Shavers never dealt with.
