Did Bones get rag dolled or did he have success with his TD's?

Did Cormier get any or many slams in or TD's in?

Jones was able to use his size and frame in clinches to wear down the shorter and fatter Cormier. He scored 4 or 5 tds. DC's wrestling was shut down for most of the fight though he did get a slam td in the last round.

Really? I expected DC to own him in that department!

I know Bones had a really short career in wrestling, but how far could have gone had he stuck with it? Olympics, perhaps?

Yup, for the first three rounds it was a pick-em fight as Cormier was mainly striking in the clinch. In the fourth round Jones just pressed him against the cage and then scored multiple take downs. Jones completely owned him from there on out; showing absolutely no respect for Cormier.

In round 5 Cormier got Jones up in the air and Jones grabbed the cage a little and interrupted the finish allowing Jones to prepare for his landing and made a quick escape

If Cormier completed the slam and stays on top I think he takes the very quiet rd 5

Jones did take Cormier down with ease several times

Cormier did not try to wrestle Jones he used Greco and Freestyle standing techniques and faking setting up TD shots to beat Jones up with dirty boxing and strength. It was obvious DC wasn't trying to wrestle him with all the opportunities. At the end of the 3rd Jones looked like a beaten man but when he came out for the 4th DC was gassed and took the round off to recover and Jones came back to life when he felt DC''s fatigue and took over until the 5th where DC was still tired but was coming back a little but not enough to deal with Jones energy. He finally grabbed Jones for a high crotch throw like he did Josh Barnett but he was struggling for energy he got the toss but lost the fight. I had him 2 rds to Jones 3 IMO as good as Jones is DC lost the fight more than Jones won it.

The problem is when you fight like Daniel Cormier does (the boxer / grappler similar to Cain Velasquez) is that it requires a superior level of cardio to maintain throughout a 5 round fight.

Boxer / grappler in my humble opinion is the most effective but also energy zapping style of fighter that exists in MMA.

Cormier didnt lose the fight - Jones won it! Because Cormier couldnt apply what he would with 95% of the division to Jon Jones. Because Jones is too well-rounded for that.

If Cormier would have shot in, traditionally, then he would have gassed sooner. Fact is; he couldnt! Because Jones would have sprawled, and Cormier would waste a lot of energy, that's energy he knew he would need down the stretch.

I was left feeling disapointed about the whole thing as I was sucked into the UFC PR machine again, with regards to how good Cormier actually is, or is not! And just how dominant Jones it or is not!

I guess it all begins again for Jones Rumble :yep ............
The sooner Jones moves to HW. The sooner we can once again become intrigued about his fights.

DC cut less weight than Jones did. He only "gassed" because Jones was beating the **** out of his body.

Jones was a JUCO national champ just like Cormier was before he transferred to OSU.

People don't seem to realize that Jones was a legit wrestling prospect who could have made waves at the D1 level if he hadn't left school to start fighting for money.

In JUCO, Jones beat Max Askren (Ben's younger brother), who went on to win a D1 national title, and he was offered a full scholarship to ISU by Cael Sanderson when he was still coaching there.

Neither fighter did any significant damage to the other though. TDs without a good follow up don't mean much imo.

I'm sure it was a snoozer as usual. Once the "action" hits the ground, it's time to take a nap. :nod

Wrestling and MMA Wrestling are two different sports imo
