Marciano came very close to being knocked out by Moore. Without help from the referee he probably would have been. The ref gave him several extra seconds to recover after he got up and blocked Moore from following up while Marciano was still dazed.
Moore was bitter about this for a long time, refusing to even talk to Kessler when they met. The film doesn't seem to quite support Moore's version of the story. Marciano drops, staggers to the ropes and the ref restarts things. Doesn't seem inordinate.
Moore's path to Marciano is unimpeded from about "5". He got up at 2 and the referee had a look at him. Battle was rejoined no more than 7 seconds after "1". It's bull****.
Martciano had freakish power for his size, & may have hit as hard as tyson. At leat it was close. The results of Marciano's blows were formidable, from going to slep through arm & other damage. Though Tyson's speed & accuracy, combined with defense, has him better in an ansolute & H2H sense. The effect of 'roids re: rage has been scientifically much questioned. Anyway there are tons of reasons guys are screwed up & are aggressive, Tyson was a textbook case. Of course a poor unconnected 12 year old was not taking PEDs. Tyson was built like a keg naturally, & there is no evidence he ever juiced.
He put on over 16lb in less than a year from fighting Tillman in the amateurs to fighting Mercedes in his pro debut. Those protein shakes Cus concocted must have been some strong ****....
This is speculation. I think that Moore hurt Marciano more than Walcott did, but I wouldn't put it any more strongly than that.
I watched Moore vs Marciano the other week. It was only a matter of time, Marciano battered Moore. There was only ever going to be one winner after the knockdown. Moore did well to last as long as he did. Marciano is one of the best punchers in boxing history. I read once a sparring partner of both Joe Louis and Rocky Marciano said Joe connecting with 4 punches was the equivalent of Marciano landing 1 blow.
Haha good one :good at least we acknowledge the level of your sense of humour now hah  For the record Jersey Joe Walcott said no question Marciano hit harder with one punch than Louis (queue the sarcastic response )
Marciano told Peter Wilson in an inteview that when he got up he was waiting for the mandatory 8 count. The count had been waived for title contests. I don't think there is any doubt Marciano was badly buzzed by the KD, especially as he himself confirmed it.
No ,what he actually said was Louis was a rythmn puncher .The program, How It Was gives us the low down. Walcott also said Louis knew he had lost and commiserated with him Louis, sitting next to him emphatically denied this. You believe what you wish.
