    I do know about that.

    - Maybe beating Toney is enough to put him ahead of Calzaghe.Toney was an ATG in his prime.Calzaghe does not have anybody like that in his resume.

    - H2H Jones was clearly the better fighter than Calzaghe.

I disagree again with you. Clearly Clazaghe ranks ahead of Eubank and Ottke. I do not think much about Ottke cause he got many gifts.

However, Jones and Ward may be ranked ahead of Calzaghe.

There isn't one win on Joe's entire resume that's comparable to the Toney win even at Super middle !

Still a huge difference when you consider his age. People were calling and many still do call BHOP shot when he fought Calzaghe ( who was also shot) but then Kovalev beats him and people worship the win over a 50 yr old because he got dominated at 50. BHOP still being relevant really shows how weak LHW is....

Calzaghe is VERY VERY over rated. He never left the British shores till forced to. Many of his so called TKO wins were ludicrous premature stoppages. There is no way in heck he LEGITIMATELY beat Bernard Hopkins either. The man ended up being unable to throw a legitimate scoring punch but was still awarded victories. As for Calzaghe-Kovalev ? You'd never get him in the ring with a guy like Kovalev Heck he tried to back out of the Lacy fight claiming "injury" but Enzo kicked his butt & made him fight. Nowhere near the best in my book

Calzaghe is overrated in the UK and underrated in the US.
He is a level above Froch, but a level below Ward.

That is exactly my point, coupled with the fact that Roy Jones looked unbeatable at SM.

On the other hand, calzaghe has a lot of defenses of the WBO title against bums.

It is close betwen Toney and Calzaghe though

Toney's best wins: Barkley (ATG), Prince Williams (long time LH Champ), Littles (undefeated at the time), Dewitt (former MW champ), Thornton (solid contender).

Toney also KOD the first of those list.

Clazaghe's best wins: Mitchell, Eubank, Brewer, Kessler.

Brewer and Eubank were clearly over the hill. Mitchell and Kessler were solid wins.Calzaghe has never beaten somebody like barkley. :deal

If you know much about boxing, it's a stretch to claim his resume is even comparable. What you could claim is that head to head Andre Ward is on level with Joe Calzaghe. Both are A-grade fighters, obviously.

I started this thread to discuss Joe Calzaghe as the Greatest super middleweight of all time. Many of the posts are off topic. There are some great posts here, and some crazy opinions based on people's favorite fighters, you can certainly split the yanks and the English. But let's discard the LHW rubbish because Joe did not have a lengthy career there and it was not what this thread was for.

It is not rubbish, Roy Jones was the greates SMW ever. AFter him I would mention Ward, Froch , James Toney and Calzaghe in no particular order.

I have a lot of respect for Froch cause he always takes on the toughest opposition. Calzaghe was fighting for most of his career WBO bums.

Bernard wasn't shot when he fought Joe, but he didn't have the stamina required to fight at a high pace.

But he's always had trouble with fast fighters who could box.

    Joe wasn't shot either.

People were impressed by Kov, because he shut Bernard down every single round.
