no these lists are not what fighters really weigh.

they are unofficial fight nite weights for a reason.

    keyword : unofficial

the scales are not monitored like the weigh in scales and there is no set procedure for the weight.

Half the guys have clothes on etc

also some of them intentionally eat large that same day.

You would not see a lot of this on fight nite weights like the old days.

Also these days there is way too many weight classes, in the lower divisions some of the differences are 3lbs , FFS you can literally eat that much and move up a class.

Gatti v Gamache. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/m...gatti-left-damaged-depressed-article-1.430079 In video of the weigh-in, Gatti is seen stepping onto a scale that was calibrated at 141 pounds, the contractually dictated fight weight. When a boxer is on weight, the needle will hover between two bars on the scale, but when Gatti steps onto the scale, the needle immediately shoots to the top like a ring-the-bell game.
A state Athletic Commission rule at the time stipulated that the fighters were to be reweighed eight hours before the fight, and could not be separated by more than 11 pounds. Gamache alleges that the state failed to enforce that clause.
HBO's unofficial scales had Gamache at 145 pounds. Gatti weighed 160. And though Joey Gamache has been left brain damaged by the fight that nearly killed him and ended his career, but he doesn't blame Gatti

For those of you adding weight, cite a source so I can update the list.

FYI those that mentioned Kovalev, he's gone up 2 or 3 pounds in each of his last 4 fights. He's growing.

    And lol at Crawford.

And imo the solution to all the nonsense is to do the weigh ins day before and then another right before the fight (like in the dressing room). No more than a 3lb gain or so allowed.

Ensures fighters aren't dehydrating, maybe just skipping breakfast before the first weigh in.

    It wouldn't be possible though.

You'd get fighters unofficially weighing themselves, before the second official weigh in in the dressing room, to make sure everything was ok.

    But what if it wasn't?

They'd then be frantically trying to lose the weight before the second weigh in.

That would create all sorts of issues.

A three pound weight gain overnight isn't a lot.

Also, what happens if at the second weigh in, they're over?

Could you imagine if the opponent refused to fight, and it had to be cancelled at the last moment?

    There'd be a riot.

Eh, prohibitive fines per pound or some sh*t. Or just make the official weigh in part of the ringwalk. If they miss weight they get fined/suspended after the fight. Fighters who are too scared to fight people their own size can go ahead and dehydrate anyway and take the consequences, just like the amateurs. It's their own fault.

Probably what happens currently when fighters don't make weight: their opponent has the option to not fight, or they can go ahead with the bout but the offender pays a forfeit and it's switched to a non-title bout or a catch weight. Seriously, this happens from time to time already. Salido-Lomachenko, Marquez-Mayweather, Chavez Jr.-Vera, Golovkin-Rubio, Mikey Garcia- Juan Manuel Lopez, Corrales-Casamayor, Rodriguez-Ward, Broner-Escobedo, Morales- Danny Garcia, etc.

Besides, fights are called off at the last minute every now and then without a riot. Either a fighter gets injured or has a family emergency like Tyson Fury did this year, or they get arrested like Cleveland Williams, or they don't receive their purse money for the fight like what happened to Ernesto Espana and Leonidas Asprilla. What happens then is you hope you have a good undercard and not too many people demand refunds.

That means Donaire and Rigondeaux would never have fought, because Donaire was a junior Welter in the ring that night.

Not really. Lots of guys in the past were outweighed by over 30 pounds. A smaller fighter can agree to fight a bigger fighter.

Haven't read every fight at the list, but pretty sure they were all Heavyweight fights in wich a 30lbs weight difference is very common, and pretty easy to overcome if the weight comes from just being fat.
Eric "Butterbean" Esch and Gabe Brown both outweighed multiple of their opponents by 140/150lbs and lost those fights.

Difference is in the weights that you have to make weight at.
