Why is it that so many British "favourites" struggle in America against Americans?

But Dirrell probably deserved to beat Froch mate. The yanks have Andre Ward, Mayweather, Andrade, Bradley etc. I would say over all they still might just have the slight edge in quality myself but for our size we are producing much better boxers.

I would say the former Soviet nations by far and away are right now producing the best boxers and they would probably have more champions if there fighters were more marketable.

Joe Cortez "I'm fair but I'm firm, oh sorry, you're not American, forget I said that, touch gloves and come out fighting"!

I think he is one of the most biased refferees going. If he's still doing it that is.

Glen Johnson is American. He was born in Jamacia yes but has lived in the USA for over half his life and is a citizen of that country.

He was pumped full of steroids, that's why. He had more testosterone than blood in his veins.

I totally agree with you. I have been a huge Froch fan, I don't like Dirrell, however Dirrell probably should have won that fight on the scorecards. The fighters from the former soviet nations are the best. Those dudes are incredible! I personally think there's a lot of hype surrounding the top fighters from the US, these days. Depth wise, America has the UK covered clearly for quality. The UK has such a great passion for boxing, it deserves to have quality world class fighters.

I take your point but it was still his best fight, regardless.

He retired a while ago. He seemed biased to me as well . A lot of the time for the 'home' fighter. I remember he used to referee a lot of 'Jeffrey Fenech' fights here in Australia, years ago. Fenech was a great fighter but he could be dirty. Cortez always let me him off the hook. Cortez liked to play the home court, so to speak!

In regards to the 'eastern block' fighters, it's a shame more of them don't turn pro at a younger age, it could be argued, they are so good because of all the amateur experience. However from a personal point of view, I'd rather see more of them in the pro ranks from a younger age.

froch lost every round against neither taylor nor ward. again, you really are bitter.

aside from that, we have to accept that the rules of the sport are refereed differently according to how it is trained around the world. americans tend to have better defence, and are allowed to implement it more, this immediately puts brits who are unacustomed to such practices at a disadvantage.

plus until recently they had a larger talent pool to choose from.

bradley is an odd example, we have 2 welters who could very conceivably beat him.

Nobody really knows if they could beat him but as of now Bradley has achieved more and is perhaps a bit more highly rated in general.

Because traditionally America produces better fighters than us.

This. I thought it was ridiculous that Petersen was allowed to get so close and Khan was being warned for pushing him away and not being broken after clinching. What do you want from an outside fighter? You either have to push or clinch if they get too close.
