There were a few reports I recall reading that felt Brewer had done enough and if I use your logic by noting the official cards for Reid/Ottke as some kind of arguement, I could say, as you put it -
He only won by split decision over Brewer himself, which was disputed (while Calzaghe won 119 - 109).
You only noted the best card to suit your point, which I have done here. Your logic

I think Joe's SMW resume is better than Carl's.

Also, nobody was beating Roy in his mid 20's at the weight.

There'll never be a better fighter at the weight than a peak, 25 year old version of Roy.

He beat Toney with absolute ease.

    He beat Malinga with ease.

He beat Lucas with ease, after playing a semi pro basketball game on the same day.

He was just on another level.

    Bailey,

Change the record regarding the Eubank win.

I've debated on here with you for almost three years, and if anyone but Joe had beaten Eubank under those same circumstances, then I know that wouldn't give them credit.

It was a great win for Joe personally.

But it wasn't a great win in the boxing world.

Eubank wasn't shot, but he was past his best, and using Michael Spinks as an example, is ridiculous!

    More stats.

Being undefeated, doesn't automatically make you great.

Being prime, doesn't automatically make you great.

Eubank AT THE TIME he fought Joe, wasn't great.

Nobody but you, would class Kessler, Veit, Brewer, and a past his best Eubank, as being great.

A great fighter, is an elite fighter.

Roy and Joe were great fighters.

Floyd Mayweather is a great fighter.

The fighters you have listed were levels below.

Eubank was faded, and Roy was shot at almost 40.

    That is a fair post.:good

Calzaghe has some solid wins but he also fought a lot of WBO bums.
Also calzaghe did not look an unbeatable monster in there unlike Roy or James Toney at SMW.(before he ran into Roy)

Also Calzaghe was not willing always wiiling to fight the best, unlike toney or froch.

Toney, Froch, Ward are right up there with Calzaghe I think.

I think joe fought roy and bernard at lhw, so these fights can not even be taken into account

I wish the people on here calling Calzaghes record trash would look at Wards with the same objectivity but they won't.

    Kessler
    Lacy
    Eubank

Everyone else you mentioned is irrelevant. You put far too much emphasis on records, rankings, and titles without regard to who they lost to/who they beat. Look at it objectively: You're talking about average fighters who lost to other average fighters and occasionally beat an average fighter. All the champs besides Calzaghe were weak beltholders at the time, so losing to them is not impressive and beating them is not that impressive either.

    Froch:
Bute: Comparable to Lacy in many ways and a better win.
Pascal: Went on to become lineal at LHW
Kessler 1-1: First one was very close, but obviously Joe did a better job here.
Groves x2: Unknown how good he is, but I suspect very good and at least as good as Kessler. He's at least going to win a title.
Dirrell: Unknown how good he is, but he's at least going to win a title. (see 'Abraham')
Abraham: Not as proven at 168 but holds a title now...
Taylor: Not as proven at 168...but had only officially lost to Pavlik at that time.

To me, Bute cancels out Lacy, and the quantity adds up at some point to cancel out Kessler and Eubank. Again, I'm strictly looking at who he beat, not whether he struggled or all of that. I really think Groves, Dirrell, and Pascal would beat Kessler the night Joe did.

    Ward:
Froch: Clearly #2 in the division, title unification, had/has better wins than Kessler and Lacy combined.
Dawson: Beat Hopkins and was lineal at 175, so for me this cancels out Eubank. It's also nice because Ward kind of showed that he was the man at 168 AND could rule 175 if he wanted to.
Kessler: Sloppy win, Kessler wasn't as good as when Joe beat him, but he was the regarded as #1 in the division at the time.

I'll stand by my statement. Calzaghe beats Ward and Froch but if you put their best wins head to head, Froch and Ward have beaten more/better top fighters.

    H2H: Calzaghe > Ward > Kessler > Froch
Best Wins: Froch > Ward > Calzaghe > Kessler

    Nobody calls it trash.

Calzaghe is a TOP 5 ATG SMW. Then I have Ward, Toney, Froch and Calzaghe in no particular order.

We have to wait how Ward's career develops though
