Hmmmm, 154. Norris boxes soundly with no mistakes and I think his speed could give McCallum problems. All I could say is this woulda been a hellva boxing match. McCallum never lost at 154, but when Norris was right he could do incredble tings. I lean towards Norris...for now.
good matchup Norris could really fight. a boxer puncher, he had a busy, classy style and could hit. Mcallum more cagey and hurtful to the body. I think mccallum had a better chin, Norris was faster, mcallum so clever, Norris a great combination puncher, mcallum more experienced Norris younger and fresher. Close fight, I think if Norris keeps his chin out of the way he could win it but I cant forget how fragile he looked against simon brown. I go with mcallum
gotta go with Terry in points win. After all, he's got the speed How's Mike going to overcome the difference in speed? I said it before, I'll say it again; when terry Norris dont want to be touched, he won't! Once Terry is on his toes, it's like fighting a ghost. and his reflexes are instantaneous. In other words, Terry will beat Mike to the punch almost every time. Just look at the job he did on SRL, in a fight no one thought he stood a chance of winning. He took the master boxer puncher and tied him in knots, confused him, baffled him, bewildered him, hurt him, decked him, then retired him, crying for his mommy I def think it would be a closer fight but make no mistake, speed rules! Mike would give him a good workout tho
McCallum for me. Body punching, great defense, good power, etc.. Terry was quicker but so was Donald Curry.
McCallum all night long. Once he adjusts to Norris speed, cracks him consistently to the bod draining his legs. Mike gets to that fine china chin and brutally stops him. In any hypothetical matchups involving Norris, you just can`t forget about that chin,or lack of ...Seriously,McCallum is on a whole other level than Norris. This is the guy who was starched by Mullings,Jackson Brown etc,etc... Plus Norris made a career by picking on smaller fighters or guys lond in the tooth... The `Bodysnatcher` would be neither !
Couldn't have said it better myself. Agree 100% (Although I do think Norris is a very skilled boxer with good power)
Thanks SB. Norris was a great combination puncher, with speed and power. But, his chin and sometimes poor battle plan always left him at risk. Had losses to much less than fighters. Hard to see him surviving against McCallum...
I could Norris outboxing McCallum for the first few rounds then McCallum coming on strong to stop him mid-late rounds.
Harsh on Terry Norris to say the least. The Keith Mullings fight was pretty much at the end of Norris's career, Julian Jackson could KO anything he could hit, and Norris put on a fantastic exhibition of fast-handed boxing to beat Brown in their rematch. Terry also beat guys who were world champions at 160. McCallum was a pretty complete fighter, but Terry Norris had absolutely fantastic hand and foot speed, and his chin certainly wasn't of the Amir Khanesque china that some portray it as. Norris on points for me.
Norris didn't have the boxing IQ McCallum did, and Mike would have been difficult for Norris stylistically too, not just the other way around. Besides, this time Norris wouldn't be beating up smaller men or the dessicated remains of what used to be champions. McCallum gets to the speedy but fragile Norris by the 10th and the referee steps in.
Interesting fight. Haven't seen that much of Norris, but from what I've seen he was a very nice combination puncher with speed and power. His advantages are speed and to a certain extent power probably, while Mike's is head movement, reach and durability. Mike was good at figuring out a way to win when outmatched in terms of speed. Either during the second half of a fight (McCrory and Graham) or in the rematch (Kalambay and Toney). Well, and in one case with a single punch (Curry). I don't know Norris well enough to say with any certainty how he would fare against Mike's increasing pressure as the rounds wore on, but it would be very interesting to see.
Harsh ? What do you have as Norris` signature victory ? Small Meldrick, washed up Mugabi, old SRL ? Norris couldn`t stop a used up SRL and he himself was stopped by Mullings. Jackson (who was incredibly one-dimensional ices him early and with ease. Simon Brown ??Plus beating a true welter in Brown, doesn`t give him much in way of bragging rights. Norris had a B A D chin against significantly less than fighters. There is ZERO chance he makes the final bell against a fighter of McCallum`s caliber. So who did Terry beat ?? Prime world class fighter that was his size ?
