Ward could easily have gotten it last year alright, but Darren O'Neill would definitely be the favourite in that division (even if Ward was there)!

Also, last year was Phelan's first as far as I know (beaten a few years in a row by Conlan before he moved up to 56kg). Dalton would have given him a run for his money on the back of a good Commonwealth games.

Delighted for him and the Irish boxers that will get to fight on a world title show in Dublin,
Neilsen is a winnable yet respectable fight for Andys first defence,then BJS in the summer,Good times ahead for the likeable champion,

Iverepeatedly said I have a high opinion of Andy Lee as a man and as a boxer.

There's no shame in being domestic level...few ever get anywhere near it. He is in good company..spike, murray, blackwell etc Ietc Ijust don't think he is a workd level boxer,man sorry an all if you don't like it but, tough!I was very impressed by his jabbing v Korobov, but other than that..overall it was a poor enough fight, and let's face it Nielsen isn't even domestic Irish Isles level.

 

Delighted Andy gets to make a voluntary defence of his hard-won title and hopefully bank a few quid. It's only fair.

Just wondering though WHY BJS didn't insist on enforcing his mando position?
