    Even Ward didn't think so back then, he himself said prior to the final that Bute was legit and that the winner should take Bute. That was before he started ducking is way out of the fight. Style makes fight and Bute's chin would not have any problem fighting Ward.

    Ward was too clever by half. If he'd thought Bute was a pushover, he should've taken the millions for the easy night's work instead of taking the Winky Wright way out.

    He turned down a money fighter who was willing to come to Oakland. Those don't exactly grow on trees.

    Had to drive him nuts to see what dismantling Bute propelled Froch to knowing it could've - and should've - been him.

    I strongly suspect Ward was assuming a Bute victory over Froch would make it a bigger fight. Unless you think Ward was really afraid of Bute, and I know many do, but I wouldn't imagine such with you.

    It was a strategic gamble that back-fired, and as such a bad career decision. Had Bute beaten Froch, as most expected him too, Ward's gamble would have likely paid dividends. This proved to be the first in a series of bad career decisions made by Ward following the tremendous momentum which carried him out as the Super Six Champion.

    why do you guys always want to make fights out of weight class GGG vs Ward then Ward vs Kovalev then rigo vs walters, rigo vs loma I am sure there are number one contenders in their weight class after they clean out the division ok move up.

    Ward fought at 175 in the amateurs so he can't use the I'm to small excuse.

    You maybe right. At the time Bute fought Froch, Ward was still out due to an injury. He could not have fought Bute when Froch did due to this.

    But what he said prior to that, suggesting Bute hadn't really fought anyone may have been an attempt to get Bute to add a big name to his resume to make a fight later that year an even bigger fight.

    Froch ruined that possible outcome for Ward. Instead of supporting a fight with Bute later down the line which may have resulted in Bute taking safe fights until Ward recovered he may have forced Bute's hand to take a risk and the gamble back fired.

    Completely agree with you, and of course I was not thinking of you when I made my comment. Moreso the dozen or so other threads/hundreds of posts made by fans of mayweather/broner/ward who insult Golovkin for not moving up to fight Ward, while never once applying the same thing for Ward (moving up)


    My opinion is that Golovkin should stay and rule 160, Ward at 168.... until they cant make the weights anymore. I don't think a fighter can duck someone who's at a weight they've never fought at.

    Ward has stated multiple times hes excited about moving up to light heavy, and has also said hes ready for the best at 175

    Again, most people I see commenting on the subject (not all) are holding Golovkin to a standard they conveniently aren't holding Ward to.

    ward will go after the easiest title imo...anthony direll...

    ward is a cherry picker, always has been, he wants what is easy because he feels he is owed it...

    Wards beats Golovkin HANDS DOWN .

    Yet I don't see that fight happening either .
