Could Julian Jackson have come close to denting Hagler's whiskers?

Jackson put guys to sleep the nano second after he hit them. Their life less bodies used just drop to the canvas.

By how much? If either had put Hagler on ***** street ,even momentarily I might give JJ a shot, but they didn't, so the difference between their power and his would not be enough imo.

 

It's the combination of chin and overall skills that would stop jackson from being anything other than a very outside bet to get a stoppage.

if you give Hagler the skills of Caveman Lee it becomes a different story.Nobody is too purely durable to be stopped.

Hell, he would have ko'ed Hagler, flat out ko'ed him if he had connected properly...but that's the catch...you think Hagler gave Duran too much respect???

 

All the great middles of history...the really great ones like Monzon and Hagler, the wily, clever ones like Giardello, and just a few others, SRR, Greb,...would have been too damned smart to have their chins in the way...even Gene Fullmer and **** Tiger would have avoided the sudden death of being hit by JJ,

Perhaps if Hagler stood in the center of his ring with his hands at his sides and let Jackson take a few free swings at him Jackson could perhaps hurt him. But I don't see it happening in an actual fight situation. Hagler was way more skillful and would get to Jackson before he got to him. It would be very similar to the McCAllum fight where Power punching yet fragile chinned Jackson is taken out by a powerful and rock chinned opponent.

 

Mcvey - Jackson is known as the hardest punching MW of all time.

He is widely regarded as so.

 

Sure if he connected on Hagler properly, but I don't think he'd be able to do that I think Hagler would do away with Jackson in the same fashion that he did most of his challengers. First little bit of the fight being competitive but eventually Hagler would take over completely and the finish would follow soon after.

 

We are talking about a guy who was never dropped (Roldan a push and cuff) Hagler had pure granite for a chin,fought ALL the bangers before and during his title reign. I actually think that the mighty Cyclone hit every bit as hard as JJ (Hart was a TRUE 160 lbs). Hagler never really got even staggered. To say that a blown up Jr. middle (even one who could crack like Jackson) could dent Hagler`s chin, highly unlikely...
