Let's get this out of the way first. I dislike Sugar Ray Leonard as a man and I having similar feelings about Oscar De La Hoya. However to deny Ray Leonard's greatness is sacrilege. He is clearly in the argument. His record speaks for itself. I am a massive fan of Floyd Mayweather junior and I am strongly of the view that his work will not be fully appreciated until he retires. You don't have to love Floyd and denigrate Ray Leonard.

Just your statement regarding Benitez is enough to convince me you have no idea what you are talking about. Benitez was "nothing." I think the Boxing Hall of Fame and everyone else on this board would beg to differ with your inane assessment of Mr. Benitez. Also, Duran had two or three fights at Welterweight before the first Leonard fight. And he wasn't just a "lightweight." He was one of the best lightweights of all time. Hearns was not just "an up and comer." He was WBA champion and had destroyed long standing champion Pipino Cuevas more than a year before the Leonard fight.

All that interests me on here is a logical discussion of classic boxing. I don't care if you're a billionaire living in a mansion somewhere or if someone else is typing from his prison cell. From what I've seen, your arguments are illogical.

a guy like Leonard? sacrilege? we're not talking Joe Louis here

greatness is fighting Pryor. What did Leonard do? He turned him down

you want me to give him brownie points for turning down Pryor, Hagler & Nunn?

for getting his ass handed to him by Norris?

yeah, his record speaks for itself alright! 36-3-1

    now look at Floyd's

    47-0

    compared with 36-3-1

now let's see if you can do first grade math

    47 __ 36

    0__ 3

which was do the signs go?

What you MEANT to say is FLOYD'S record speaks for itself. No flaws. no blemishes. that spells perfection

Aw, now don't get upset because I questioned your sanity. You have to admit you do go a little off the deep end. Don't you have anything else to talk about regarding boxing but except trying to undermine Leonard's standing? Anything at all?

smearing of the opponent is always a last resort when you know you're outgunned and have nothing to offer. we see this all the time in politics and in campaign ads

to answer your question Mr. felon, maybe you should check the other threads

"Opponent?" Since when are you an opponent?

Lots of others, me included over the years, have shown you many reasons why your arguments are shaky at best time after time, year after year. You routinely get your azz handed to you and still claim victory as if anyone but you saw anything in your words they could bank on. Only you believe any of it.

Me and about 4 other guys on this thread say so. Leonard was 40. Is that all you can come up with? What about the other stuff I spoke about? You talk about my mother? Tell me something about your mother? Did she have any other kids that lived? How old are you? Man I got to get out of this. I feel like I'm arguing with some kid in a school yard.

so what? you and all the other guys think Leonard & Duran wouldve laid out Benn. you're stupid, plain N simple. Oaf

this is also the same group saying Tony Ayala was going nowhere and Duran wouldve schooled him in 1982.

as it turns out, someone of lower rank (Kirkland laing) schooled Duran

    Oaf

what do I care what you or people like you, think?

see how dumb this group is?

He is blocked so I can`t see his `posts, infantile rants`,but ...I take it that RoOsTeR is still dealing with many unstable issues, mostly himself. The thread could be about Mike Tyson, and the ReD one will always spin if to his sister,Terry. Scary stuff indeed

Your out of your mind Hearns beat his eye out and square danced circles around Leonard

He was faster quicker better balance, actually Ray looked as slow as Maidona....luckily the weight drainess caught up with Hearns. And other than Leonard's gift of a win over Hagler Hearns resume is 5 times better than cherry pickin Ray and in the rematch Hearns was knocking around the ring like a pinball...

Ray Leonard is a bit overrated.
