This is for the Oriental & Pacific 130lb title, (Saturday morning for us gaijin) @ Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.

This is Phawachart's fourth defense of his title in only his ninth pro bout. He is also, concurrent with his boxing career, still the WBC featherweight champion in Muay Thai kickboxing, where his record is 189-36-4 (13) with not one loss by stoppage in well over 200 bouts.

Kaneko is an iron man, a big tough super feather who goes hard every minute, with triple Phawachart's boxing experience (though just a tenth of his overall pro combat sports experience, counting the Muay Thai). He gave Takashi Uchiyama some difficulties and showed great courage and resiliency when challenging for his WBA title in late 2013.

Phawachart has actually gone 12 rounds more often than Kaneko has, and has the extensive MT background as well to suggest that his stamina is excellent - but Kaneko has proven his gas tank against the world class Uchiyama, even knocking down "KO Dynamite" in the championship rounds. Speaking of which, Kaneko is slower of hand but has the clear edge in power.

This will be aired on NTV G+ in Japan, which is a subscription pay-per-view service. It may also be carried by a television outlet in Thailand, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

The gong bangs (meaning the undercard starts :yep) at 5:45pm local time in Tokyo, 3:45am EST.

This dude sounds like another Payakaroon type of fighter. Will keep an eye on.

While I could name a couple I'd like more at 130, an Uchiyama/Kaneko rematch is still one I'd like to see (and is virtually the best option if no unifications are to take place and if we're being realistic it probably is the best for Uchi).

Having seen the picture Asianboxing put up of the weigh in and hearing reporting they've retweeted...looks like Jomthong gone screwed up.

Here's more an aggressive type. Defensively aware, but I wouldn't say he was slick.

Cool, so you always refer to Walker Smith Jr as the best welterweight of all time then? Perhaps Gershon Mendeloff is in your top ten? Benjamin Leiner the best lightweight ever?

Jomthong has been known as such since he was about ten years old. Do you have any clue how Thais work?

Is there a "proper" version of the Jomthong Vs Kim fight available? Only ones I've found are either screwed up sound or silent

    Cool your jets, little man.

I know exactly how they work. And I don't indulge that ****.

...and yes, I do specifically discriminate against Thais where this is concerned.

    Got a problem with that? I really don't give a ****.

'Little man'? You are such a condescending hipster.

I'll stay on the Classic forum from now on.

Right, because "condescending hipster" doesn't precisely describe your tone in your previous reply.

Or your "I'll stay on the classic" whining. Go ahead, toss your toy out the pram.

    I'm condescending, but I'm not a hipster.

Fact of the matter is, Jomthong is his name. He likes to be called it. You know little of how the Thais work, as it's their SURNAME that tends to be a gym/sponsor.

More often than not, their forename is a moniker chosen by themselves.

And Jomthong has been Jomthong longer than he's been Tanakorn.

I just thought it was disrespectful to the fighter, and also doesn't help boxing fans who are unaware of him in identifying him.

Again, in Thailand and internationally, they know his name as Jomthong.

Tanakorn is a pretty cool name though admittedly.

    Nice edit.

I'm not throwing my toys out the pram. You are just trying too hard to look 'above' calling a fighter by their chosen ring moniker.

    Classic hipster move.
