Yeah there are a FEW that you maybe it doesn't work for but as a general rule it works.

One that you can't do it with is Kongfah as there are two of them Nakornluang and Kokietgym. They are VERY different in the ring with Kokietgym having some real promise (and he scored a KO of the year contender last year) whilst Nakornluang (a stablemate of Suriyan, Srisaket and Nawaphon) is a very limited but excited brawler.

...and it's maybe not necessary for Wonjongkam/Ruenroeng (though again using first names there would be fine)

Does "Kongfah Kokietgym" now go by "Kongfah CP Freshmart"? :think

In that case, problem solved: we can just use his birth name, since it's known (Jakkrawut Majoogoen) to avoid confusing him with Nakornluang.

And to play it extra safe, we could refer to Nakornluang as Chaiwat Buadkratokand and to neither as Kongfah, just so there's absolutely no chance of mixing them up, ever.

That's if everyone in the boxing community followed my lead, which I realize is pie in the sky. :D

As for Wonjongkam and Ruenroeng - those are their legit real names, aren't they?

Poll's public, Yid. It appears Flea's picking Kaneko by stoppage - which is the direction I'm leaning myself.

All I'm expecting for certain is action. These guys' styles can't really combine for anything short of fireworks.

Sorry that was a mistake on my behalf, he was never Kokietgym always CP Freshmart >_<.

Pretty sure they are the real names though Wonjongkam did fight under various sponsor names:
    Pongsaklek Sitkanongsak
    Pongsaklek Singwancha
    Pongsaklek Kratingdaenggym
    Pongsaklek Petchyindee
    Pongsaklek Kaiyanghadaogym

And I think he also went under the CP Freshmart banner late in his career

Yeah, I always just consistently stuck with calling him Pongsaklek Wonjongkam.

Or, lazily (as became trendy), just Pong. :yep

Sounds an excellent fight it's a real pity we don't get the oriental boxers on british tv anymore it used to be excellent watching the galaxy brothers , moon and chitalada , oh for the good olde days

Yeah, the West kind of stinks with its biased coverage.

You hardly ever hear mention of boxers from the Orient in any of the press over here. When they put up the "best in the division" rankings graphic on HBO, nothing from that hemisphere (though in fairness, in the higher weights there rightfully wouldn't be anyway - but they've done those for as low as bantams at least, too), ever. Sucks.

Especially lousy in this case is that maybe nobody outside Japan (and, specifically, paid subscribers in Japan) will get to see this live. NTV G+ is notoriously difficult to find a stream of, and there is no auxiliary international coverage that I know of.

Shocked you two weren't already following each other...

The picture is worrying, turns a 50-50 fight into one that I really think Kaneko walks. A shame considering I was incredible excited back when it was first announced. A twitter friend living in Thailand said there is NO COVERAGE in Thailand. Paper and TV are ignoring it. Sad if true.
