Abril is a top top fighter he beat Rios who gave Murray a bad beating and Murray at best would give any LW in UK a great fight
I see the fight 65/35 in Abrils favour but eh burns beat Martinez in much the same scenario so you never know

Derry Matthews is a top 5 UK lightweight only Burns and Mitchell rank higher at this moment, they have both had a shot now Derry is getting one.

You could argue that Derry deserves a title shot just as much as Crollas, he starched him in the first fight and got jobbed in the second. Derry is a better fighter than Crolla.

Murray's come forward style was always going to flatter rios though Billy. Rios was huge at the weight.

Would have been good to see ricky in with Brandon.

I always said rios was ideal for Ricky, although he's big and strong he's very flat footed and struggles with speed

I agree with you. Styles make fights and John's style was all wrong for Rios.

Out of interest how would have gone about setting ricky up to deal with a slippery customer like Abril?

Ricky hasn't got the power, speed or smarts to keep Rios off of him.

yes he did,see all this **** power power power ,up until Mitchell Ricky had a watertight defence, brad saunders, tommy coyle, gethins and more could hardly lay a glove on Ricky and at the same time getting a very very hard time.
They couldn't deal with his speed, strength or skills, rios imo has very slow feet and doesn't move them well especially going back that's were Ricky work rate would have given him big trouble with 2,3,and 4 phases of punches whilst constantly landing with the jab. burns had a great jab and the only way it became less of a weapon was coz he started loading up coz he thought he was becoming a puncher something I reminded him he wasnt

Odds to Abril seem very generous to be honest. I'd of expected him around the 1.15-1.25 odd's, even fighting away. 1.36 is available which seems ridiculous in my opinion.

Will be one of the biggest mismatches to have ever taken place. Derry was schooled for 10 rounds by Coyle until he made a mistake. Abril will embarrass him.
