Why would he be conditioned for a 12 round fight when no one expects this to go past 6?

Because believe it or not he's supposed to be a world class professional athlete.

Do world class athletes not prepare themselves for the task in hand?

His weight is one of his main advantages he has against Wilder, why would he give it up?

And in the process give up power and punch resistance?

He's not going to win this fight with stamina, speed and agility, he's gonna win by winning the inside battle and being stronger/bullying and Wilder

He ain't doing that coming into the ring around 8-10% body fat

You don't think it would have been prudent to train for 12 rounds against a guy who's never been the distance? I think that'd been a huge advantage if the fight goes on a few rounds.

I think there is a perception that ppl who carry extra body fat have little cardiovascular fitness, it's not the case

He's always been overweight, and hes faught for 12 rounds b4

Why would he change what he sees as a winning formula?

    Boxing ain't bodybuilding

I understand that you don't have to be body beautiful to be physically fit but I don't think carrying around all that extra timber is doing him any favours.

But we'll never know as I don't think there is any danger of him coming in sub 230

And because it's been a winning formula thus far doesn't mean it will in future.

his higher body fat percentage won't matter when he puts a charge into Wilders skull. One left hook or right hand like he tagged Arreola with... :dead:!:

This isn't bodybuilding, who gives a **** how hefty Stiverne is if he can perform optimally. Having a guy lose weight just for the sake of looking good and not for increased performance is a waste of time. I don't think his shape has much to do with a lack of diet or preparation as his body composition hasn't undergone much change. His heftiness will probably pay off as he'll be the one who can take a better shot and have more power.

The one who really ****ed up is Wilder. Coming in at an anorexic 219lbs. At that low weight against HW firepower, there's no way he'll be able to take a good shot and stay on his feet.

At what weight does wilder usually fight at?

I know he's not a great example but David Haye used to weigh in about 215lbs but he was only 6 ft 3, but that suited his fighting style/gameplan

What is Wilder and his team thinking? 219 pounds at that height?

Don't they know weight classes exist for a reason? :huh

I would have loved to hear CHEF's input on this fight.
