HBO is scared. That's what it seems.

In the Tyson/Lewis deal, the winning fighters network received the delayed broadcasting rights.

Because Mayweather is the favorite, HBO wants both networks to have the rights. HBO has more subscribers than Showtime. It would be in Showtime's best interest to bet on Mayweather to win, by keeping the Tyson/Lewis arrangement.

Why not have two competitive broadcasts with each network responisible for the marketing of their own independent PPV. They each could then air their own production of the fight replay.

Something tells me that Floyd and his team have found a creative way to avoid the fight and putting blame on the networks. Espinoza is probably in on it too. Showtime stands to make more money from a solo Floyd/Cotto fight than to share profits with HBO for a showdown with Pacquiao. Haymon and Floyd instructed Espinoza to not give an inch ultimately killing the fight. Floyd saves face and showtime can blame hbo.
