    Round 3

Santa Cruz is throwing overhand rights and then stepping in with a left uppercut. Santa Cruz is watching as Ruiz bounces side to side after shuffling out and standing a bit off. Ruiz is putting out left jabs planked up as he leans over to his right on the outside, not reaching. Right hand by Santa Cruz, beaning Ruiz upside the dome. Body combo by Santa Cruz. Ruiz answers back with a left hook up top and his own body combo. Santa Cruz is pushed to the ropes and starts chopping down at the back of Ruiz's head.

    10-9 Santa Cruz

    30-27 Santa Cruz

Well, Santa Cruz has beaten who exactly to be getting such high acclaim? He has always seemed like a kind of poor mans Margarito without the plaster wraps to me.

Say what you want about Wilder. He may get exposed tonight but when he fights I'm watching. Stiverne is fun to watch as well. I think Stiverne will win tonight. I may be wrong but I think Wilder's chin is pure glass like Wlad's. But Steward is no long here to teach Wilder the jab and grab style.

I hear ya, Drew, but...it was kinda always going to be this.

Ruiz doesn't have a glass chin and Santa Cruz isn't the 1-punch KO artist type. (although his power when he does opt to sit down on punches and not just stretch himself out to be a 'volume guy' is underrated)

This was always going to be two archetypal Mexican warriors doing - well, this - exactly the same thing as each other, just one being in a much, much, much higher class. This could well go another nine rounds of the same thing we've already seen after three. A "competitive" and "all-action" shutout mismatch, odd as that sounds.

The upsetting part is that after Santa Cruz's talk and the long wait for him to step up and challenge himself against elites, we're getting ...this.

Santa Cruz vs. Ruiz would've been awesome for Leo's development 3-4 years ago.
