    ggg already has a fight lined up does he not?

    this leaves an opening for lemieux/canelo...and at the same time cotto/fmj....

    Unfortunately Cotto has been granted one voluntary defense. Yes, the WBC was thinking and hoping Cotto-Canelo would be that defense.

    But nonetheless Cotto gets one voluntary before he has to face the music.

    Who determined the deadline to get a deal in place?

    Was the deadline stipulated by both parties or was it team Canelo making the deadline themselves?

    According to Cotto's Advisor the deadline issue is Canelo wanting to take May 2nd before Mayweather.

    Team Cotto says May 2nd is irrelevant to them (Team Cotto) and that putting deadlines on a fight that is not going to take place until May 2nd is not a good thing. That there was still plenty of time to negotiate but DLH and Canelo wanted to move on to secure May 2nd.
