Wilder looked nowhere near as bad as haters predicted. How hard is it to give credit?

Obviously, neither of these boxers are untouchable world beaters but Stiverne was legit enough to be considered a really good opponent. Wilder had no problems whatsoever dealing with him. Wilder showed decent footwork and fairly good handspeed. He actually boxed somewhat well which proves that he's not a one-trick-pony. His chin was tested a couple of time as well and it held up without any problems.

Wilder is nowhere near as bad as haters expected. Credit where it's due, don't you think?

He was better than expected and his jab was good, stiverne was poor and just followed but wilder kept to his plan. We saw that wilders power is good but vs better fighters it doesnt have the same effect and his chin seemed ok too. Overall better than i expected and he could reign a while as the heavies are that bad its sad to say

    Undeniably.

    Good take Faerun.

As an American, Im torn on this win b/c how Wilder choked out that pro in his hotel room who wanted her tip for her services provided.

He needs to clear the air on that and I'll become a fan.

He did boxed well, a bit scared but well. I don't blame him for fighting smart though. Engaging in close range fights with hitters is what big men are supposed to do.

He employed Wlad/Lewis's hugging style to perfection in the 12th though, so I hope he sticks with the Lara style potshotting from the outside that Fury similarly employed vs Chisora than more of the grab and lean Steward tall man defense that we saw in the 12th. :think

Wilder deserves credit he proved me wrong I thought he would get KOed within 5 rounds. I don't mind admitting when I'm wrong.

Wilder looked good, he proved his worth at the top HW level. People who still deride him as a "fraud" now look at frauds themselves. Love him or hate him, Denotay now is a solid top 5 HW and a legit contender.

Maybe he will or will not lose his belt soon but the matter of the fact is Wilder will likely be a player in the HW top 10 for the next couple of years.

People in the forum are simple-minded when they pick out a weak chin and think that alone guarantees a loss. That line of argumentation is just so stupid but fits the uneducated simpletons on this forum. Wilder took a couple punches and didn't look wobbly, moreover her showed ring IQ, he boxed smartly, he has good reflexes (at least when a slow Stiverne is throwing his clubbing hooks), he knows how to pace himself.

There was undoubtedly a lot of blind hatred but from my perspective I picked against wilder because he was unknown. His career to this point had shown little so he was an unknown quantity. Fair to say after this fight that he can fight discipled and has the ability to go the full 12 (with an inactive opponent). Also fair to say his power isn't as earth shattering as some say, but still very good. All in all he is without question a legit contender for wlad

We'll see how he fares vs someone his own size without lead in their boots. Until then im reserving my judgement.

Credit to Wilder. I wasn't sure who would win but I didn't expect Wilder to be able to out box him so clearly. He fought a better fight than I expected him to. Job well done, I'm happy for him.

I give him credit he showed:

he could go 12 rounds at a decent pace

his Jab was much better than it was even just a few fights ago

    that being said:

his power is way overrated as expected

his footwork looks awkward he is flat footed

his Chin is still a big question beating Stiverne who landed hardly anything doesn't make Wilder an Iron Chinned fighter.

Good win for Wilder and he has a big $$$$ fight ahead with Wlad later this year

I was a little doubtful myself. I like Wilder, but I was afraid he would gas out if the match proceeded. He did a good job, and showed he's not a '1-trick pony'. He beat a Top 10 HW in cruising style. He showed he could adapt.

My hat is off to Mr Wilder for this performance, but I still think he's not the best HW on the planet at the moment.

Agreed. The outcome of this fight is less about what Wilder did and more about what Stiverne didn't do. That said, I will give Wilder credit for somehow avoiding getting his fragile mandible shattered. I doubt he'll be able to do that forever.
