fact is wilder power is overrated and once he steps up again it will be even more average he was hitting stiverne with big shots loads of flush shots and yet couldn't even knock him down properly or out

    :rofl:patsch

Wilder had him hurt one time the rest of the fight Stiverne was coming forward and covering up and Wilder was hitting gloves. Hurt fighters don't talk as much as Stiverne was or keep coming forward.

Good win by Wilder he had a great plan. But, his power was exposed as many said it would be.

Stiverne walked up trying to make Wilder make a mistake, he didn't.

He was afraid to even punch because he felt Deontay's power. Did you see Stiverne's face after the fight?

Did you see that non-stop nosebleed right after?

Those power shots speak of something brutal. I would NOT be surprised if Stiverne takes a year off to recover. Those are life ending blows. :nod

He was fighting a durable guy who was covering up. He was also going backwards a lot, fighting smart and not loading up on all of his shots. For a skinny HW he seems to hit hard. I think Wilder punches hard enough that if he lands flush punches on Wlad, Wlad will be doing a chicken dance.

Waldo would be knocked spark out if he got him flush.

But as of this moment, Wlad would win because of Wilder's inexperience. Give it a year or two and I would take Wilder. :nod

As much as i hate wlad saying Wilder would beat him is being incredibly naive.

Isn't it ironic how every thread that is negative about Wilder after his win is created by someone that picked him to get knocked out? :rofl:rofl

Stiverne has a good chin, he showed that with Arreola as well.

But clearly Wilder's best shots were not enough to finish him, so while Wilder can clearly bang at this level he is not going to bomb out fighters like he did when facing sub par opponents.

He would have gotten a knockdown in the 2nd round had he not squared up and allowed Stiverne to tackle him to the canvas. Had he not squared up he would have not been pushed down when Stiverne grabbed him on the way down and then simply stepped back allowing Stiverne to fall. It's technical flaws like this that will cost him against better opponents.

The game is about a lot more than just power. And he's got plenty of power.

Exactly. Wilder power is a product of facing stiffs, as many of us said. Stiverne wasn't the guy to expose his glass jaw apparently. It appears that either his power was overrated also, or he was, for some reason, not throwing with "bad intentions."

Okay, so now he doesn't have a 100% KO thing going on but most of us with an IQ above room temperature know that had he KOed Stiverne in 40 seconds we would be reading about what a chinless bum Stiverne is instead of how supposedly Wilder cannot punch his way through wet tissue paper.

Wilder can punch hard enough. He's not feather-fisted.

I think everybody knew this.... look at the record of the fighters he's fought lol... his powers decent clearly, he hurt stiverne in there once or twice but nothing like a guy you'd expect having 32wins and 32 ko's.... it was always his opponent level... I really miss those heavies who were 6ft -6ft3 who were as skilled as welters..... It's just big guys now who have a jab, a straight right and keep the distance... boring.
