Now lets look at who Tyson DID stop. For thos questioning Tysons power. Tyson and Lewis have several mutual opponents. Both of them stopped Biggs, Bruno, Botha, Ruddock, Golota. Neither were able to stop Tucker or Holyfield. Tyson and Bowe have several mutual opponents, Biggs, Tubbs, Seldon, Golota, Thomas, Mathis. Tyson stopped all of them much quicker and in more devastating fashion than Bowe. In fact, Bowe was unable to stop most of them. Tyson and Foreman have a few mutual opponents. Neither of them stopped Holyfield, Tyson stopped Savarese and Stewart in a total of 2 rounds. Foreman stopped neither. Trevor Berbick - Tyson stopped him in 2 in 86, Berbick continued to fight until 2000 and was never stopped again. Pinklon Thomas - Had never been stopped, until Tyson got hold of him. Larry Holmes - Had never been stopped, until Tyson got hold of him. Michael Spinks - Had never been DROPPED, until Tyson got hold of him. Tyrell Biggs - Had never been stopped, until Tyson got hold of him. Tony Tubbs - Had never been stopped, until Tyson got hold of him. Tubbs would go on to fight Rid**** Bowe years later. Tyson demolished Tubbs in 2, Bowe struggled to get a decision. Razor Ruddock - Had never been stopped (properly), until Tyson got hold of him. Unless you want to count the controversial fight with Jaco. Frank Bruno - Was only ever stopped by big punchers like Spoon, Smith, Lewis and Tyson. Tyson stopped him twice, both times quicker than anyone else. Frans Botha - Up until facing Tyson, Botha had only been stopped once and that was in the 12th round due to exhaustion against Moorer. Tyson pretty much stopped him with the first solid punch he landed. He fought Shannon Briggs in his very next fight and went the distance. Brian Nielson - Was stopped 3 times, Tyson stopped him the quickest, and this was Tyson at the heaviest weight of his career and one of two of Tysons final victories. Andrew Golota - Fought Bowe twice, was never anywhere near to being stopped. Tyson hit him with an overhand right which broke bones in Golotas face and nearly killed him (which is why he walked out). And Tyson was just as much if not more past it than Bowe was. Carl Williams - Fought Tillis, Holmes, Weaver, Berbick, Bert Cooper, Witherspoon, Bruno, Morrison. Tyson was the only one who knocked him out in one round. Alex Stewart - Fought Foreman, Holyfield, Moorer, Maskaev. Tyson was the only one who knocked him out in one round. Lou Savarese - Fought Foreman, Holyfield, Douglas, Izon, Grant. Tyson was the only one who knocked him out in one round. Clifford Etienne - Fought Brewster, Valuev, Brock, Oquendo and Botha, Tyson was the only one who knocked him out in one round. This is the same Etienne who, 4 years earlier beat Lamont Brewster. Same Brewster who has a KO win over our current undisputed champion. Im not saying Tyson is the hardest puncher ever, he doesnt need to be. But Tyson is one of the best punchers and finishers in heavyweight history (alongside Foreman, Lewis and Louis). Tua, Briggs, Peters, Shavers, Wilder etc are all guys that are sometimes mentioned alongside Tyson. All looked great knocking out cab drivers, but unlike them, when Tyson stepped up, the knockouts continued. Tyson stopped a load of heavyweights who'd never been stopped before and he also stopped others much quicker than guys like Holyfield, Bowe, Lewis, Moorer and Foreman did. Tysons power and finishing ability was one of the best.
What you don't understand is that Tyson stopped guys quicker because of his guns blazing style not because he hit any harder.
Otherwise this Tyson was better finisher than power puncher just a myth. He was good finisher but he was harder puncher. (He didn't/couldn't finish Tillis,Douglas,Ruddock 2.,Danny Williams) He knocked Bruno in the first round in 1989 but he could knock him out in the 5th. Tyson could knock Ribalta down in the second round but he could knock him out in the 10 th. The Holmes ko doesn't prove he was better finisher than power puncher. It was easy to finish Holmes after the first brutal knockdown. Lewis was good finisher against Ruddock.Tyson wasn't good finisher against Ruddock at all. I think Foreman COULDN'T knock Savarese and Stewart out. These were very close fights and maybe Stewart and Savarese landed more punches than George. He was lucky.
Bowe, Lewis and Tyson all fought Golota. Lets ask him who hit the hardest? www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmF33npl3I8 Botha fought Moorer, Holyfield, Lewis, Wladmir and Tyson. Who hit him the hardest? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzQhcYI0Jjk
Well seeing as though Lewis was the only one that could finish Golota I thinks it's safe to say he did. Yeah but Lewis got Botha out of there quicker so that means he hit harder according to you doesn't it??
Interviewer: "Frans, you fought Lewis, Tyson, Wladmir (Holyfield and Moorer), who hit you the hardest?" Botha: "Mike Tyson, definitely, even the wind of his punches hurt". And yet, the idiot above is still not convinced.
Quick Tillis said Shavers hit harder than Tyson, complete utter bull**** by a lying fat cowboy!! Frans Botha said Tyson hit harder than Lewis, it's the gospel truth...
No need to call each other names genteman. I think GENREALLY we should believe what fighters say. Considering when they may have a motivation to lie related to ego or emotional bias. Though even then it may or may not be true. And whether they were, say, KOed quickly & could not judge well due to being lights out. Azzer you are convincing at how much effective power Tyson had. Of course he also hit very hard, just his delivery effected greater results than some who hit as hard or harder. How soon or well you KO someone shows effective power & skill. It *never* will p**** just who threw with more pure force. Then there are times when a guy gets another out faster that is due to styles or being past prime-like Tyson at least softening up Ruddock 'for" Lewis. I think Lewis hit at least as hard as Tyson, it likely was very close. But Lewis was more often cautious & content to outbox guys. He had that luxury in part due to height & a 7' reach, Tyson's was not even 6'.
