He landed his best right hands almost at will and could hardly put a dent in the undersized tubby stiverne who has been stopped before by a journeyman. When he realized he couldn't hurt stiverne he turned to the jab.

Sadly for wilder his height and reach are not at all special in todays HW division, so his jab won't help him against a real HW.

Wilder: 80-83 (reported differently throughout his career) inch reach
    Fury: 85 inch reach
    Wlad: 81 inch reach
    Briggs: 80 inch reach
    Jennings: 84 inch reach

Wilder's listed as longer than that on the Boxrec.

Also, yeah, he's clearly not as powerful as people thought, but he's also less vulnerable than people thought.

Stiverne is tough, Wilder elected to box and move backwards for most of the fight and Stiverne was still hurt at times. I still think he has excellent power for his size(weight).

His combination of height, reach, speed and power is good to have. He has weaknesses too obviously.

I knew Stiverne wouldn't go down, but I expected him to catch Windy like he did Arreola.

Incidentally, I hope Stiverne keeps in the game.

To be fair Stiverne's stoppage to said journeyman was rather unfair. I thought it am extremely poor stoppage. He has a good chin.
I don't know what to think coming off that fight last night. Is Stiverne that bad? Wilder looked better but he still has holes. I'm no fan if Fury but I think that would be good fight winner gets Wlad.

He knocked Stiverne down and only the bell saved him from a brutal stoppage. He also rocked Stiverne a few other times too.

Everyone knows Wilder has the power, but he wanted to show something different, that he also has the boxing skills too, and he showed it perfectly. It was a boxing masterclass.

The canvas was wet, they were both slipping all night. Stiverne was rocked worse against a journeyman (should not have been stopped, but he was rocked)

    The power just isnt there.

It was never there. He's a hard puncher but never a ¨freakish¨ one

the collection of stiffs he fought for the last 6 years helped to create the illusion

Wlad is the hardest puncher at HW, he always was

    As was mentioned

Chin wasn't that bad and power wasn't that great

Stivern has a monster chin though, but too tubby to move fast enough

It was getting eaten up by the thing that might be a neck that stiverne has. Another thread to downplay dw...:-( That stoppage stiverne had was a fluke imo.

Wilder is better than I expected
Which means he isn't a total joke, just an average fighter in an awful era

    Great look great power
Huge huge improvement in his skills

We'll see, now let's stop feasting on tomato cans eh
