Could the Jones that schooled Ruiz beat Wilder? Remember speed kills, and Wilder moves like pond water compared to Jones. H2H POWER.....Wilder, He's the natural heavyweight. SPEED...... Jones..and it's not even close. SKILLS......Jones. CHIN........Believe it or not but Jones chins is better at heavyweight. FOOTWORK.....Jones WORKRATE.....EVEN I'll say that Jones at 193lb. Schools Wilder with some scarily moments. What does eastside think? :think Discuss.
True. It's a error on my part. I should of wrote "the Jones that beat Ruiz". BTW...Wilder KO1? I wouldn't be too surprise that Wilder would get the ko. But in the first round?:blood
I think it's easy for people to give Wilder the nod, and say he would lay Jones out. Seeing that Jones has been knocked out 3 times after the Tarver fight in 04 and Wilder just came off a big win this weekend. In 03 Jones the P4P king, unbeatable in most boxing fans eye's at the time. He was maybe the most athletically gifted fighter I ever seen, stellar speed and reflexes. I think it would go alot like the Ruiz fight. Roy would do his usual show boating, catch Wilder with a right hand lead. Move out of the way of a big punch and clinch. He would just be too fast for Wilder, and as Roy would say "I can't be touched".
The size disparity would be too much imo. 6'7" vs 5'11"? And Wilder has a very good jab he can use to control distance and also has enough hand speed to stay competitive. Wilder ain't no Ruiz in the speed department. He can let his hands go. I wouldn't be surprised if Jones hurts Wilder a few times with perfectly placed right hands but I would pick Wilder via UD or late ko.
