Was Byrd the last American heavyweight to defend a title?

    If so, gotta go back to 2005, when Byrd beat Williamson to defend the IBF belt. Rahman got the WBC belt in 2006, but never successfully defended it. Briggs never defended the WBO belt either. Can Wilder defend his belt?

    Depends on who he's fighting next. I'd favor him over Fury though if that fight happens.

    Who was the last American to be ranked nr 1 in the division?
    Was it Rahman in 2001 or Holyfield in 98? :lol:

    Rahman in 06 against Toney was the last American Title Defense.
