I suspect Eddie will Still try to pimp Burns out to Haymon on a US show in the hope that he gets beat so he can cut ties as I keep saying..if not he maybe forced to put him on Kells or somebody else Undercard...for those who still believe that Eddie is interested in Ricky ask yourself this...how difficult would it have been to replace Crolla with Ricky for January 31st?? It's not like Abril wouldn't have taken it as it would be easy money plus FW was able to nip in and secure him
Probably the fact Ricky needs circa 12 weeks full blown camp to make 135lb id think mate , only issue i can see that aside you have a good point
I believe he's already in the gym.m & ready to go...if I'm wrong in happy to take back the Abril comment
Hes only been ticking over from what ive been told mate helping out with sparring etc without a fixed date i doubt hed be going full pelt or tapering his body down towards 135 as i believe he usually walks around at 147-154
Let's be sensible about this, shall we. To say Matchroom have no interest in Scottish boxing is ridiculous. Hearn's been tapping up Flynn and Ham for a while now, think I'm right in saying he's signed a promotional deal with one of them? He still has Burns on his stable as well as ties with Simmons, Simpson etc who can all do alright numbers ticket wise. Matchroom will definitely be back in Scotland. I think the reason we're not going to see it for a year or two is Burns for two reasons: 1. Burns would have to headline the show. For the moment, who is he meant to be in a headline fight against that realistically would sell out? He needs a couple of fights on the bounce to get his confidence back enough to take on a decent level of opposition worthy of a headline act. 2. I simply think Hearn wants Burns to fight on the road for a couple of fights and not have as much of the spotlight and expectation placed on his shoulders, again, all comes down to confidence. Bottom line is, Burns needs to headline the Scottish, but he can't do that until he has a couple of wins on the road.
Bazza Hearns SECC shows were brilliant. There would be Eubank, Baby Jake, Pat Clinton and Paul Weir all in World title fights. Old Bazza even brought up Nigel Benn in a World title fight. Those were the good old days when all the big names in the U.K often fought in Scotland. For Burns to pull a good crowd it will need to be for a World title fight or a big domestic clash because the crowd for Zlaticanin was really poor. If not then they would have to add Anthony Joshua in with a good opponent along with the rest of the Scottish boys in decent fights. The Scottish fans won't buy into anything less as proved last time.
I have said for sometime what Stevie and Ryan have said about Joshua. I think any big genuine world class fight up here would sell regardless if someone Scottish was headlining as Ryan rightly said it did in the past and would in the future. I know Joshua is injured now and they hoped to get 10k at the 02, but if that was on at the hydro with Simmons in his big umcoming fight with Limmond Brophy and Simpson in good tests would have done 12,000 I have no doubt.
Thing is long term he isn't going to want joshua fight in Glasgow so can't see him having a significant fight there
Harrison and Limmond wouldnt happen as they have the same trainer and spar regularly Simpson and Appelby not a chance as johns heading back to featherweight and appelby has been out at lightweight and light welter
