Wilder looked nowhere near as bad as haters predicted. How hard is it to give credit?

Wilder did better than I thought he would - for which I give him credit - but Stiverne was woeful and although this win legitimized Wilder I'm not sure he's proved himself a top five fighter yet. He needs to move on from this to fight other top-ten ranked fighters and prove himself capable of beating them and defending his title.

If he goes back to the bum-of-the-month club deal he's been doing for the past six years then I wont give him any credit whatsoever but if he takes some more challenging fights against top-ranked opponents then I'll be happy to give him any credit due.

For People that called Furys Performance as something Special, the Performance from Wilder must be from an other galaxy for them :deal

Wilder Stiverne was 3 classes above Fury Chisora :bbb

Not to sound condensing, but Wilder surprised lots of people. No Wilder fan saw a points win the way it went down. He can move and box some.

Credit him and his trainer. His opponent looked dis interested though. It remains to be seen how he will do vs a top 15 rated guy who is trying to win.

Wilder now belongs in the top ten. The question from here is can he stay there for his next two fights? I'll say no. He has a weak chin, skinny legs, and his ego can be as big as a problem as his chin.

Haters said he was going to get his skinny as5 broke in two.

Wilder-fans now think he can beat anybody and everybody.

    Reality is somewhere in between.

He can scoop up an easy and fat paycheck by pounding Andy Ruiz. Ruiz appeals to that magical demographic that still watches boxing en masse.

He could pick up another big payday fighting Fury in Blighty although Fury may proof to be somewhat more problematic than Ruiz.

Klitschko fight? Maybe after a few big paydays assuming Wilder can hold onto his belt. If Wilder can get some big wins he may be that elusive "great" opponent that has failed to materialize for Klitschko.

Wilder's career just seems fishy at the moment. Its so convenient that he faced nothing but old washed up pro boxers or people with a day job his entire career, and then when the time came up to fight a legit top 10 contender, Stiverne suddenly got a whole lot of health issues and did NOTHING to win the fight except mouth off to Wilder.

Now mind you, I was super excited that he won, I find him a likeable fellow and its nice that Klitschko will have a big guy as a challenger. That being said, I hate boxing politics and the corruption in the sport, and if the fight was rigged and some shady tactics were employed to gain an advantage, I will be the first to cast the stone.

His career up until Stiverne is absolutely fishy. It is a complete and utter façade, imo.

But the Stiverne fight was real, imo. Stiverne just bought into the hype that Wilder would fall over as soon as he touched him, or run out of gas after 5 rounds, and went there and fought stupid.

Wilder fought off the back foot, used good movement and a decent jab. Nobody has seen him do that before. Beats a solid highly ranked HW (who thought it would be easy work). That deserves credit.
