Thurman has repeatedly called out Maidana, but Maidana has dismissed him w/out actually ever giving a reason. This is a good fight and I think Thurman would get badly exposed!

So a fighter calls someone out and then if that fighter doesn't fight them they are ducking? Get a grip.

Thurman's a logical opponent given that Maidana isn't a PPV star.

What has being a logical opponent got to do with ducking?

The fight was supposed to be Thurman's HBO debut.
Maidana was looking for a tune up.
Even at that stage in his career, Thurman isn't a tune up.
I'd like to see them fight though:good

Did you only start following boxing in December 2014 when you joined? Serious question. If so, let me paint some background for you:

When he was calling Maidana out (and was actually in negotiations to fight him) it was long before Thurman had even made his ttelevision debut. Nobody on the planet knew who Thurman was. Maidana vs. Thurman was canceled in February 2012. Thurman fought Orlando Lora in his TV (as in, not on a PPV undercard or live streamed preliminary card) debut on HBO in July 2012, with most fans getting their first glimpse of him.

Thurman back then epitomized zero reward for the risk incurred.

    Right?

Since they were scheduled to meet in February 2012, Maidana has fought:

Devon Alexander (much higher reward, had been a TV mainstay for years, unlike then completely-unknown Thurman)

Jesus Soto Karass (not a star per se, but still a frequently televised and recognizable fighter)

Angel Martinez (okay, this was a straight-up bum tune-up, not going to sugar-coat it)

Jose Lopez (slightly bigger name than Soto Karass, less than Alexander)

Adrien Broner (product of major hype, unbeaten, groomed to be "next Mayweather" - and Maidana battered him, most high-profile win of his career)

    Floyd Mayweather Jr. x2

Each of those, when he fought them (with the exception of Martinez) was a bigger name and provided much bigger reward in the event of a W than Keith Thurman did.

Ducking Thurman and fighting Mayweather is kind of like when Bradley "ducked" Khan for Pacquiao. :!:

    My thing is this, though:

Maidana's coming off of a pair of fights w/ Floyd, but it's doubtful that he's going to move forward as a huge name attraction. And as you said, he's fought Alexander, Broner, and some other names, so who else is left him but Keith Thurman? I'm also talking about Thurman calling him out very recently. Danny Garcia is messing around w/ catchweights instead of going straight to 147. There's only Thurman left and maybe Pacquiao (but he turned Pacquiao away).

Okay, so what proof do you have of Maidana currently ducking Thurman?

He is only ever on record saying "No, I don't want to fight Thurman" three years ago, when Thurman was nobody (in drawing terms) and would've done nothing to raise Maidana's stock but was clearly based on his growing word-of-mouth reputation too good to face as some nameless tuneup.

Maidana was at the Khan-Alexander/Thurman-Bundo fight and Thurman called Maidana out afterwards. And Maidana's manager said that Thurman's performance was lackluster (true) and that they are not interested.

"your thing" has been shouted down already. Maidana has bigger fights than Thurman available. I get it though, we all want to see how the top guys do against Thurman.

Why did they even bother making marinade and marinate separate words? There are plenty of examples of the same form & spelling being used for multiple parts of speech. ("school", for instance, functions as both noun and verb)

Also pet. As in my pet cat or I'm petting this cat, who's somebody else's pet.

Not to be confused with pat, which you can also do to a pet, and is a virtually indistinguishable action.
