Carl Froch

Froch vs Hopkins is a farce.

 

I just think after a career like his it would be hard to drum up the motivation

 

I'm a Carl Froch fan, i can accept it. That ends that discussion.

 

Name an active SMW who is better? or has a better resume?

 

Better? DeGale. On current form, he would beat Froch.

Froch's resume is awesome and no active fighter can compete with it, but he is coming to the end of his career and that might not be the measure.

DeGale is in great form. He looks hungry. More importantly he is skilled enough to give Froch real problems. Look at the fighters Froch has really struggled with - Taylor, Dirrell, Ward. All pretty slick boxers with fast hands and decent footwork. DeGale fits that description. Froch can be outboxed.

 

Makes no sense at all. Degale hasn't beaten a top 10 ranked fighter and lost to the highest ranked opponent he faced. He has proven nothing yet, he may do but he is potential at this moment in time.

 

True, but those stats don't do DeGale justice. His last three fights have been against two undefeated fighters and a very respectable opponent in Periban. And let's face it he only lost to Groves by a whisker. That a pretty decent record.

Froch would struggle against DeGale's boxing style. He has in the past with similar fighters.

 

Periban should have been a respectable opponent but was stupidly out of shape. I like Degale and can see him winning a world title in the future but he isn't on Frochs level yet IMO.

I would like to see him avenge the Groves loss and think he can do it inside the distance.

 

you said it's the only big fight hearn can make. now you're saying he can't. the 2 i suggested are certainly no less feasible.

You should have ended that sentence with, BUT he normally either outpoints or KO's them.

DeGale is nothing like Ward in any way shape or form, and he's done nothing to suggest that he has the skills or punching power of Dirrell.

DeGale has never had to tough it out, against Froch he'd have to fight for every second of every round, he's a lazy fcuker so thats unlikely. As soon as he steps off the gas he'd be manhandled and under fire, i don't believe he has the tools or the brain to deal with that.

Politics and promotion have steered DeGale into this position, and at the end of the day he's never beaten anybody of note, or shown anything to suggest he can mix at the highest level.

 

In his last three fights he knocked out fighters who had never been knocked out before, two of whom were undefeated. He clearly has punching power and skills. Saying he has done 'nothing' is ridiculous given the evidence.

He did against Piotr Wilczewski. Tough fight that one.

You make it sounds as if he has been gifted his mandatory position. Since the Groves loss he has won ten fights on the bounce against increasingly stronger opposition. Contrast this with Groves who following two bad KO losses had two pretty average performances and now is in line for a shot. Now that's politics and promotion for you.
