He certainly didn't look like he overexreted himself in camp. Btw: You don't do any heavy weight lifting in the final days before fight night, that'd be complete idiocy. You minimize risk of injury in final days.
You are wrong. As soon as a cell ruptures, the contents of the cell are released into the blood and myoglobin that was contained in the muscle cell begins being excreted in the urine within hours.
Sorry, not buying it being a factored.. and even if it was.. doesn't matter... he did it to himself then. Wilder beat his ass. This is a lame excuse by Don King to try and get a rematch. He was outclassed, outworked and severely beaten in every way imaginable. The reason he looked like **** was because Wilder controlled him completely.. he didn't have a giant punching bag in front of him like he did against Arreola. If he wants a rematch, go out and earn that ****.
Also, it's not necessarily heavy lifting. It's a more genuine concern with too much volume on body weight exercises or very light weights, like with people who compete to set records for things like most squats, pull ups, etc. People just lifting for a workout, even an intense one, usually never get close to that level of overexertion. The weights will tire them out first.
This is Don King trying desperately to save his one and only plausible Heavyweight from becoming irrelevant by coming up with a sorry excuse for Stiverne getting humiliated. Stiverne had months to train for this fight, and came in flabby and with poor muscle tone. What was he DOING in all that time? Every video of him "killing" the heavy bag that I saw just showed Stiverne tapping lightly. And there was the video of him "killing himself" in training....which showed him jogging, at a snail's pace, when everyone with half a brain now realizes that slow jogging does NOTHING for boxing fitness. The bottom line is that Stiverne proved himself to be a lazy, unmotivated fighter, with a **** POOR training staff. Don King is now saying to the public: "That wasn't the REAL Stiverne in there. Please, please, please, buy the NEXT PPV fight with Stiverne....he'll do better, I promise" Don't buy it!
100% cosign. Stiverne came in with bad conditioning, he's lazy in the gym. Don King has a history of making excuses and lies for his fighters. Remember how Michael Moorer "broke the desk" during the press conference? Remember how Don King told the press Oliver McCall used a "strategy of confusion" in the Lewis rematch and should not have been TKO'd by the ref for being inactive? :rofl:rofl:rofl
