Pérez is jabbing high and jerking his left arm back, pinning his gloves over his temples as Acosta jabs back at him. Left hook by Pérez after worming his way inside. Acosta backs up, flicking side-out jabs from the chest. Big looping right up top by Acosta, no-look, head down. Pérez is jabbing Acosta's jab out of the air, backing him up into the ropes. Clinch. Pérez walks into a short left hook as Acosta ducks and squeezes past him via the basement window. Jabs by Pérez bopping him on the head.

Round 7

Pérez is walking into upper-hooks as he drops his face into the slot for Acosta on his left side. Pérez switches and gets clubbed from above with rights. Pérez is throwing lead hooks, spinning at the waist and missing, getting tied up or pushed off. Body shots by Acosta. Pérez is catching jabs and short rights on his gloves, punching out, asteroid-shooting, parrying. Acosta down off a clipping left hook while throwing his own!! He's up and trading body hooks with Pérez.

Well, chintzy knockdown but I don't know if you can really fault the ref. Technically he did go down because of the force of the blow (even though, as Malignaggi pointed out, most of the impact was from Pérez's arm on his shoulder...but his knuckles did also brush his eye, so... :conf)

 

I would rather not listen in to the corner than for trainers to have to curb their language when they're trying to get their guys motivated.

 

That was about to be a 10-9 Acosta round too. (would've narrowed Pérez's lead to a single point, 67-66 on my card)

Pérez is moving in with heavy left hooks downstairs, staying in Acosta's wheelhouse. Both are having turns pouring it on and hurting the other. Many of Pérez's hits are with the underarm, smothering himself up close. Solid overhand right by Acosta late.
