Apparently the WBO don't care about such things.

The fact that you hold so much stead in glorified scam operations like sanctioning bodies, is probably why you're getting so upset.

Don't get me started on "deserving", Ive seen guys barely in the top 50 in the world get world title shots.

Id much rather an actual top level fighter fight for a title, then some guy who happened to win the WBOs Oceanic title and got his ranking from that.

You need to stop thinking these sanctioning bodies and their belts matter. They don't.

Id be just as excited about watching this fight if it was for no title.

If Mayweather and Pacquiao vacated all their titles and fought in May, would it belittle the fight in any way?

    Of course not.

You're getting upset about a guy being able to fight for a belt when the guys who actually give out the thing don't even care.

Enjoy the damn fight on its own merits and stop worrying about belts and sanctioning bodies.

Like I said I don't care about all that political nonsense.

I think Lee-Quillin is a great match up between 2 world class fighters whose styles should make for a very exciting fight.

Of course Andy being from my home town gives me extra interest.

Theres only one question in my head to decide whether I want to watch a fight and that's simply

"Will this be a good fight to watch"

If I think it will, then I watch. Simples.

At no point do I think about "Is a title on the line? Does the guy deserve a shot? Where the correct procedures gone through?
Id be equally as excited for this fight if there was NO belt on the line. Same with Peterson-Garcia. Its the match Im looking forward to, the belts are irrelevant to me.

If you don't watch it, then fine. That's your call.

But honestly, do you not think that Quillin-Lee is a good match up that could lead to an exciting fight?

I cant keep repeating myself, and now I seem to be attracting people with mindlessly childish insults(Have some pride in your work)

If you think Lee-Quillin will be an exciting fight, but don't watch it because of the political mechanizations behind the scenes, then I simply do not understand your way of looking at things.

I watch boxing for the enjoyment of watching a good fight, between well matched, quality opponents.

    ....And nothing else.

There was an old man of madras.
Whose bals were made of fine brass.
So in stormy weather, they both clanged together.
And sparks flew out of his ass

I heard Quillin might be getting paid $750k if he fights Lee.

So Quillin is fighting for a belt that he vacated and he's potentially making less money for this fight than what he would've made had he agreed to fight Korobov?

He was guaranteed $1,428,630 to fight Korobov...is he really going to be making more than that to fight Lee?

how poetic it would be for quillin to get KO'd by Lee for half the money he would of gotten from perhaps losing a decision to korobov

So he drops his belt to duck Korobov, only to come back and try to get his belt back now that Lee dealt with Korobov for him. What happened to those fights the fans want to see that he talked about? That was supposedly why he dropped his belt. With seemingly spineless moves like this, fans continue to lose respect for the sport. Haymon gives us stuff like champions dropping belts to dodge mandatories only to come back for the same belt once the mandatory is gone and two champions fighting each other in the same division, but it's in a non-unification, non-title fight at a catchweight, etc. etc. Thank you, Al Haymon. Thank you so much.

Did you just compare the WBO title, which I personally am older than, and which is one of FOUR "major"titles(the least prestigious) to the World Cup and World Series???

Can you play in the World Cup final by having a powerful manager with deep pockets, who can simply pay the FIFA preseident to do so?

If the Preseident of Russia could pay the FIFA president some money to put Russia STRAIGHT into the final, then it would be like the boxing sanctioning bodies.

Dont go comparing scam operations like the boxing sanctioning bodies to actual sporting events.

This isnt 1950 where theres one title and it means something.
If you think a piece of metal and plastic adds credence to a fight, then more power to you.

Ive seen guys not even in the top FIFTY in the world fighting for titles for crying out loud.

Im as interested in the Lee-Quillin fight as I would be if there was no piece of plastic on the line.

If you dont want to watch a world class, exciting fight, because the political workings of some sanctioning body upsets you, I suggest you stop watching boxing, because you'll end up a very depressed man.

Just as an example of what a joke these sanctioning bodies are.

Lets have a look at what the WBO considers the top 15 MW's in the world

    Champion
    Andy Lee (Ire)

    1.Billy Saunders
    2.Peter Quillin
    3.Jermall Charlo
    4.David Lemieux
    5.Lajos Mark Nagy
    6.Daniel Geale
    7.Willie Monroe
    8.Arif Magomedov
    9.Vitali Kopylenko
    10.Matt Korobov
    11.John Ryder
    12.Arthur Akakov
    13.Abraham Han
    14.Douglas Ataide
    15.Gunnar Jackson

I had to look about 5 of those guys up, and this is the prestigious belt that you are afraod is being sullied by Quillin fighting for a title??

Maybe they should have given the shot to their #5
    http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=544351&cat=boxer

Apparently this is a top 10 MW.
    http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=442108&cat=boxer

Or given the #14 a crack?
    http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=575703&cat=boxer

    Or even 15
    http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=536646&cat=boxer

The WBO like pretty much all the titles, is essentially becoming more and more worthless
