agree.....it's a complete joke.... the guy has fought pretty much all tomato cans all his career.....steps up once and fights a so called killer who walks in straight lines and eats jab now he's back to fighting nobodies..... if brook is so, so special like hearn says why doesn't he beat a thruman? marquez? berto? guerrerro? so many options. :patsch

God knows. His record suggests he should be around #15.

I'm not criticising Brook for having a somewhat easy fight following his injuries and lay off.

However you might like to wonder how and why certain fighters become mandatory challengers and manage to leapfrog other, more established fighters in the same division.

Jo Jo Dan's most notable recent wins were two close decisions over Kevin Bizier, which netted him the IBF intercontinental belt and no doubt propelled him into the number one spot.

Kevin Bizier, meanwhile, came from nowhere to win the vacant IBF intercontinental belt against a badly faded Nate Cambell last year.

Personally I wouldn't deny the likes of Dan or Bizier their chance to fight for belts or get world title shots; after all, new blood has to come from somewhere. However, should they really be in a position to take the mandatory spot when the most notable win between them is an ancient Nate Cambell?

Welterweight is a pretty stacked division; the IBF top ten is full of established, proven fighters and yet the likes of Dan and Brazier can get to the top without fighting any of them?

Anyway, like I say, I wouldn't deny anyone their chance, good luck to Dan, but just because he's a mandatory it doesn't make him any more worthy an opponent and particularly not at welter where there is a credible match up at every turn.

What did Danny Garcia do with his mandatory?

you are so far up kell brook's ass that you don't even know what you are talking about it if you approve of this fight. You looking forward to Brook vs. Jones 3?

exacly i dont get how these mandatories work how can this man be a mandatory for brooks belt its madness really considering all the fighters out there, they shoudl be entitled to a top 10 fighter of something not straight to the champion without any good wins

Yep, that's always baffled me. The rankings seem to just be a frivolous toy for the leading bodies.

After suffering a major leg injury like that you would be crazy to go in for a very hard fight.

Boxing, behind the scenes, is unbelievably corrupt, always has been.

agree 100%.......brook v berto, brook v thurman, brook v gurrerro, brook v rios, brook v alvarado, brook v bradley, brook v maidana, brook v ortiz

so many options, there are easier options in the list above to test the waters
