Anybody know why he went to Australia to live?
What attracted him to Australia, so far away and all.....
He never seemed to settle in England once he stopped boxing.

Believe his wife wanted to move out there, Benn's just after the quiet life nowadays it seems.

It's ironic...during their careers, benn was the English fans crowd favourite.....Eubank was very much the "outsider".

Yet Eubsnk ultimately stayed in Blighty, while Benns spent most of his life post-bixing away from England.

Why was it ironic? Eubank played and indeed still plays the Pantomime villain, there is always a twinkle in his eye and he is/was the better interview. And although 80s Benn was always fun in the ring, their excitement level in the ring in the 90s were comparable.

But anyway happy birthday Nigel Benn; 51, jeez we are getting old...

Benn moved to Spain in the early 2000s. He was a wreck in England post-boxing, drug addictions and suicide attempts and cheating on his wife and stuff.

Benn was far more exciting than Christopher between those ropes Boozer. He was reeling himself against Kid Milo, Piper, Galvano, Gent (ABC commentators in the States were going insane, where I watched it), Eubank, Wharton, Giminez, McClellan, Perez etc and stormed back to get the better of them with aggressive leads and combos.

Chris stayed out of range 95% of the time!

Yes he moved to Majorca. Was on holiday there in 2001 and one night me and my brothers went to a kids club while my mum and dad went for a meal. My dad came in raving about this fela I'd never heard of yet. Apparently the waiter moved my mum and dad away from his table when they hadn't even noticed him. Benn shouted them over later saying how out of order it was and got a photo etc. Sounded like a proper gent and I'm sure he said he was trying out DJ ing at the time.
My dad was a big fan and it was the only time I ever seen him even a little bit star struck. My dad just passed away on 21st, this just made it a little bit more poignant for me.

Exactly. Other than the fights against Collins, Benn was simply fantastic to watch and follow, an awesome fighter. That bout against McClellan was both brave and brutal in equal measure, it epitomised Benn's nature and style: relentless, powerful, never-say-die...The whole night and aftermath was scary and unforgettable.

What were the drug additions? I didn't know about that.

He is virtually a nobody down here in Oz, obviously I know him along with one or two of my mates, however 99.99% wouldn't have a clue who he is tbh.

He lives in a suburb called Blacktown (no pun intended) training a few kids in a local gym etc, he also has something to do with a church group. There was a sports show about 12 months ago that did a little feature on him but no big fanfare. Also our payTV did a white collar boxing series in which he was so guest trainer...... You can probably look it up on Australian foxtel if you try hard enough.
